my buddy just bought a 04 ccsb king ranch with 200,000 miles on it. all stock to his knowledge..he asked me what kind of chip is best to run..and since im a 7.3 i didnt really know...i told him SCT..also ive read a little bit about doing head studs and egr cooler delete or somethin...is that a must have thing with a chip and the amount of miles this truck has? any help would be great

There are no "chips" for 6.0's, programmers only. The only option is an SCT, WITH custom tunes. An EGR delete is a good idea even on a stock truck. Studs are hard to say. Some stock trucks blow headgaskests, others run hot tunes with no issues. I would plan for the worst though.

oh ok..well i suppose ill tell him to just run it with the chip for now and see what happens..how come 6.0's only run programers?
|
Because chips don't exist for 6.0's... literally. We ONLY have programmers available, whatever he is running is a programmer.
I wouldn't tell him to run it with whatever it is he's running and see what happens, but that's just me... his trans will thank him. SCT with custom tunes is the only thing that will save the trans... |
sorry i that didnt come out right...he is in the process of getting a SCT tuner...the truck is still stock...what i meant to say is ill tell him to run the SCT for now..when he gets it...and then go after the egr delete and maybe studs when he gets the chance. and i know alot of custom tuners for the ts style chips for the 7.3s...not so much for the 6.0 SCT programmers..who are some good tuners?

Ok sorry I misunderstood you. Sounds like a solid plan.
