injector repair???

Ive got a 2004 6.0 f550 ive got to change out the # 5 injector is this a massive job or is this something a guy can do himself i havent delt with this ford motor before. Ive done other motor overhauls on other makes. Is there any good directions or pics that i could go thrrough before i tackle this? are there any specialty tools needed??? any advice would be great thanks!:humm:

the links in the stickys t the top of this thread go me through changing out my dummy plgs and stand pipes. I had to pull the highpressure oil rail, then the injectors were right there, I dont know anything past that. I learn about this motor on a need to know basis.

You will either need to buy a tool or make a tool to pull the high pressure oil line under the valve covers.

Passenger side will be a lot more difficult than the drivers side, but still do-able.

wouldnt an 2004 have the wavy high pressure oil rail with the standpipes?:humm:
And as for the passenger side, idk if an f550 is set up any different, but pull the fenderwell out and remove the heat shield and cover to the ac condenser, blower box, what ever its call. I did that and had all the room in the world..... well short of....

A late 04 would be different than an early 04 for sure, but not sure which he has.

Do you have the IPC sensor on the passenger side valve cover, or down on the back of the motor behind the turbo?
