One stud better then the other

I need to get studs for my 6.0 which one and where at? It is still under warranty but blew the head gasket out. Dealer ship told me I get the studs they will put them in and call it factory so I will still have warranty for the rest of the milage left on it. Thanks Scott

Arp,and ellite are two that i know of. That have had good results.

Dont waste ur money on studs unless u have ur heads decked!! The techs at the dealerships dont check the heads to make sure their flat. You'll still blow head gaskets unless their flat.

My dealer installed ARP's were the shortest living headgaskets I've ever had.

If you're not running a hot tune and drag racing it, you'll be fine more than likely, but it is true, the dealer will NEVER do this job right.

ARP's are more than enough. They hold up on Shawn Ellertons 1200+HP 6.0.

H-11 would be the only other option. They claim higher tensile strength, but that's kind of sill considering the block the stud goes in is softer than both stud options.

Use OEM Ford gaskets and talk to the tech about possibly getting your heads decked/pressure checked. They're not going to want to do it, but it's worth a shot. Even if you have to pay out of pocket for it, do it. It's a waste of a job otherwise.

Ford says those heads can't be machined, so I find it amazing your dealership allows you to send anything to the machine shop. Want to put studs in my truck for me? I'm under warranty, and my truck is puking coolant.... Hook a brother up? I've got the studs sitting on the shelf and you're only about 2 hours away from me. :c:

Your dealership is definitely a rare find, all of the dealerships ive been to in the past 5 years act like the 6.0 is from outer space and dont want anything to do with it

Bring it on in. Id be more than happy to. Havent seen any 6.4s come in for a week ill let ya know when it dies down some. Ill tell the service manager that i know you real well so i can get it in and back out to you within a few days up to a couple weeks depending on what the machine shop says.

F*ck what ford says, you know why ford doesnt want us milling those heads? There arent MANY competent machine shops out there. Ive had heads milled on these things since ive been working in dealerships and the first dealership i started out at has been sending them out before i even got there... Must be telling you something. Also One engine ive done at the last dealership was a complete 6.0 (turbo seal went ran away spun all the bearings boy how fun that was trying to turn by hand to get the torque converter nuts out) At the customers request was to install head studs. No big deal. Well i took the heads off. Dude, either they use really cheap or really dull cutting bits at the plant because when i get heads back from machine shops they have a polish finish smooth as glass. OEM either new or remanned whatever was on this engine, were rough surface i sent those out to be cleaned up. I have friends who used to be machinists that are in thier 60s and if i can get my hands on alot of money and all the milling machines needed id do machine work and put motors together on the side. Plus itd save me from having machinist do my heads for my race car.

BTW 6.4 heads can be and have been milled since 08. First short block i ever did in a 6.4 got both heads milled. No issues. Like i said there arent many competent machine shops around, ford doesnt want to pay out as it is, and well, if you get the new guy that takes too much off, ford isnt going to pay for someone elses errors. Not only that they probably fear that it is a performance modification.

Yeah dude id def hook ya up, im trying to find my buddys truck as well as a few other customers trucks that ive done major work on... Studs and such.

lol who ever works in those dealerships are probably scared of 6.0s, I LOVE working on em! I hate 7.3s with a passion! God how i hate them piles of crap! Nothing but a block cracking, oil puking, powerless pig! All should burn! I get 6.4 turbos in and out faster than i do 7.3s.
Ill do 6.7 turbos all day long, 6.4 short blocks all day long, 6.0 head gaskets turbo cleanings injectors all day long theyre by far THE EASIEST diesel to work on in fords arsenal.

anyways heres a few pics of my work
This is one of probably 200 6.0 cab off head gaskets at the very first dealership i worked at. And yes, that little black and stainless box was mine haha

3rd set of 90s all i had to use was a 18 inch long breaker bar. So i tore the handle off of a floor jack for more leverage.

This was done at the 2nd dealership i worked at the "senior master" techs best friend brought his truck in for head gaskets. The truck BARELY ran. Heres what i found

Heres one hahaha me and this one kid who were friends when we got to the dealership then turned to enemies (i got to do motor work he got stuffed with quicklane) when he pissed me off i took this truck after i put a new egr cooler and oil cooler in it, went up to his bay with his door hanging wide open and held it to the floor and burned all the coolant off smoking his bay up. hahaha that and the septic truck i did was 10x worse.

My warranty runs out in August so at this point I figure trying to get anything done under warranty is worth a shot. If you can get the heads decked on it and get my studs put back in, Id buy you lots of these... :c:. PM coming your way!

Also when you're doing ARP's are you still using Ford's 90* method, or do you follow the ARP instructions? After having a few in-depth conversations with an engineer from ARP, I wouldn't do anything BUT follow their directions! I know others who have done the 90's and some worked, some didn't.

Called and left you a voicemail, soon as you get back to me with the info i need, ill see when i can get you in. :rocking:
