Who's using Swamp's FICM?

Hey guys,

It's been awhile. I've got my EX back and it's running, it just takes a bit to get her started. Once I've got her better, I'll post what I've been though, lessons learned and recommendations.

I measured the voltage from the FICM tonight. People said it was easy and it really was. I wish I would have tested it two weeks ago, it would have saved me a bunch of head aches...

The KOEO tested about 18 for a few seconds and then move up to 48. When cranking, it was around 17 and would jump higher for a split second. Once it started the voltage came up to low 20's. Basically the times it was any where near 48 was short.

So I'm going to be calling Swamps tomorrow. What are the pros/cons of upgrading to the 58v FICM they sell?

Thanks,
Jeff

The 58V just drives the injectors a little harder to overcome the stiction from what I understand. I've heard or read of some issues with the 58V during towing, but I think that's just internet jargon, since then most have reported the tow all the time with it, without issues. Swamps does good work. The only con is the extra cost I guess, but gotta pay to play. I'm going to be doing my own 58V FICM as soon as I can source the parts needed. Some of them are minimum qty of 1000 pcs. :c:

I have a swamps 58v ficm, they claim its a 40hp increase on a stock engine. I paid 450, they have a really good reputation for their ficm upgrades and injectors. Ive also heard about towing issues w/ it, but its always a friend of a friends brother story.

I'd love to see a dyno sheet to compare a 48V and a 58V FICM. I'm trying to put this together right now, I'm scheduled to dyno Aug 13th.

I had a swamps 58v and would recommend them to anyone. Easy to deal with and fast service. Never had any issues towing. I doubt the 40 hp increase.

I believe if you read some of their updated information that they've come out and said no issues with towing. I think that was their initial safe statement and that they've since recanted that.

Got the 58v. Took about 20 minutes to test, 4 business days to arrive, 20 minutes to R&R. Started right up.

So far customer service is great. I'll send back the core today. We'll see how fast they refund the core charge.

Cool, tell us your thoughts on driving now... What other mods do you have, how do you normally drive, can you tell a difference with the new FICM?

I scanned a truck today that has the Swamp 58V FICM and it was throwing FICM voltage codes. Data stream showed FICM voltage at 54.8 volts. Do all the 58v FICM's cause fault codes. The truck passed all tests and is not turning on the Check Engine Light.

I believe it's just a soft code they throw, but yes that sounds right. I do believe that to be normal.
