From what I have read it is actually the oil cooler is plugged/ the coolant passages clog and won't let the coolant flow so it just heats up-turns to steam-POP there goes the egr cooler, drain the whole cooling system to help get some of the debri that clogs the coolers and install coolant filter, replace oil cooler, should be good to go, I would delete the egr cooler but that is up to you, highly recommended though for long life

My guess would be clogged oil cooler too. You need to find a way to monitor engine coolant temp and engine oil temp. If they ever get more than 15* apart, your cooler needs to be replaced. My guess is you'll find yours is probably 50* or more apart.

Oil cooler is plugged. EGR cooler bursts. Next in line is head gaskets. TTY head bolts stretch due to increased cylinder pressure from having coolant in cylinder and head gaskets blow.

i just came across this the other day. you need to replace the oil cooler. also check the plastic tube that your oil filter slides on. chances are that it melted into the oil cooler and clogged the coolant passages. also check the screen under the oil cooler and check your ipr regulator under the turbo. that may have a crack in the screen that will cause a no start later down the road. ford does offer an ipr rebuild kit that has a new screen and o-rings. i highly recommend doing the ipr after any issues with the oil system.

I would get a better tuner for starters. What EGR delete did you use?

landroverguy98 09-09-2011 12:11 PM

it was a Sinister one that come with the oil cooler i liked the tuner the mpg were great do around 75 on the highway i was getting 22 to 23 mpg and like 18.5mpg on the steet do you know of any good tuner that will help with the egr code and the p1000 code thanks

Mdub707 09-09-2011 12:17 PM

SCT with custom tunes is the only that will get rid of EGR codes. Where are you getting those fuel mileage numbers? Hopefully not off the information center, which is often referred to as the lie-o-meter. If you hand calculated those numbers I'd like to hear how you're doing it. If you are actually getting these numbers, congratulations you have one of the highest MPG 6.0's on the entire planet.

The P1000 code is nothing and will go away on it's own. It's just an incomplete scan. After you drive a certain number of miles it will go away.
