First Time Diesel Owner

Hello everyone.

I just purchased my first diesel truck. It is a 2005 F350 Crew Cab Lariat. I just reached 75000 miles and I am due for my first oil change. I was wondering what else you guys recommend that I check at this mileage. As far as I can tell the previous owner has left the truck at its factory setup. I plan on deleting the EGR soon and would like to do the head studs but I cant afford that right now.

If it's new to you, go through and change all of the fluids. Motor oil, trans oil, filters, both diffs and the t-case.

I'd also add a coolant filter ASAP too.

A coolant flush wouldn't be a terrible idea either.

plan on doing an STC bracket within the next 15000 miles. Around these mileages youll probably start seeing longer start up times or possible no starts when its hot.

Sounds like HPOP leak..............

I would change out what ever you can afford. I switched to synthetic and had my tranny, diffs and coolant flushed. You wont believe the nasty stuff that comes out. I found diesel in the coolant (cracked head).

yeah, which is what the STC is. Quite common, especially on 05 trucks.
