Smoke Tinting Taillights

I am looking for some DIY ways people have tinted their tail lights. Pictures would be nice!

I took them off the truck, cleaned them, taped them up, sanded them with some 1500 or 2000 grit sandpaper, then painted. Lots of coats. More than you should probalby do to be exact. Then cleared. I would skip the sanding step if I did it again, personally, and I will also be buffing mine at some point.

I would also recommend taping off the reverse light, I can't see shiz backing up at night. You don't realize how much you use them, until they're gone.

BUT, it looks SWEEEET....

It's my sig pic... thought I had more, but I guess not, I'll keep looking. I've also done the DIY harley headlights. What a PITA.

What did you spray them with? And if you dont sand them i feel like the paint isn't going to adhere very well. Did they look pretty good flat before you cleared them??

No they didn't look good, and they don't look good even after the clear, they need to be wet sanded and buffed, but I'm just too lazy. I'd like to try a set without sanding, seems like the sanding made it less clear, but IDK.

I used VHT night-shades, made specifically for going over lights. You can get it at any auto parts store near the spray paints. They say you should only do 1-3 light coats to do a SLIGHT tint. I just kept spraying until it didn't get any darker.... DOH! :rocking:
