Lets see the cockpit of your 6.0

Hey guys,

Lets post some pictures of your cockpit from the drivers seat. This way we can get some ideas of how everyone has their gauges/pods/monitors and whatever else, set up in their trucks. This can be a long ongoing thread so if someone comes here asking what a specific type of gauge may look like, they can see it here. Be sure to post what gauges and what brand they are too. I'll get some of mine up later when I get home to my camera...

:pca1:

Ya just as well close the thread now...:tttt:

Jesus!! Did you need a third battery?:s: I'd say you have the gauge end of things taken care of:tu:

Mdub707 05-19-2011 12:13 PM

I never get tired of seeing CSI's gauge setup haha.

What are all the buttons to the left of the HVAC controls? How about a list of the gauges you have, I know I've seen it floating somewhere before...

Also how are you reading ~43 psi of boost sitting still? Seems like even if you were in 4x4 and drive with your foot on the brake, it'd override the brakes at some point.

A pillar top to bottom

Exhaust Back Pressure 0-60
Boost Pressure 0-60
Left EGT 0-2000
Right EGT 0-2000

Dash Top

Water Injection Pressure 0-180psi

Overhead Pod left to right

Tranny temp 100-280
Rear diif temp 100-280
Oil temp 100-280
Coolant temp 100-280

Dash Suround

Drive oil Pressure 0-400
Intake air temp 0-240
Volts 10v-16v
Fuel level for the bed tank

Underdash left to right

Fuel pressure 0-100
Oil Pressure 0-100
Air Pressure 0-180

And a Scan Gauge on the steering column...

The nice thing about the performax line, among others is the peak recall... Truck is not even running right there, I press a button and the gauges all go to there last peak reading (other then fuel pressure and HPO pressure, they go to the lowest), press it again and they go back to normal readings. Also have data logging and the new warning lights!

The switchs are for the compressor, water injection, Mirror heat, CB and strobes.

Mdub707 05-19-2011 01:48 PM

I was wondering if they had a recall function. Cool. Thanks for sharing.

Diesel_Daddy6.0 05-19-2011 02:05 PM

You got a pilots license for that thing? Lol. Geez. More gauges and monitoring equipment than a 747.

Just need a coolant system pressure gauge now!

His truck is a 7.3, he don't need to worry like us.

You are the gauge God!! That's awesome!

Senior 05-24-2011 01:14 PM

CSIPSD, where did you get your overhead pod? I have been looking for one and can't find it.

Autometer sells them. I've got a 2 gauge overhead pod I will probably be selling soon if you're interested.

Finally took some pics for you guys...

A-pillar has Dipricol Optix Pyro, Boost, Trans temp (wish I knew then what I do now, totally wouldn't have bought these, would have went fuel pressure, EOT, and ECT) You can also see my Sirius dock too in the right
Attachment 41665

Overhead pod, Isspro EV2's, fuel pressure and fuel level for my veggie tank. My fuel pressure is tapped into my vegistroke manifold, so it can read diesel pressure when on diesel and reads veggie pressure when on veggie, also lets me know when I have issues with purging or anything along those lines, when switching back and forth.
Attachment 41666

I know there was questions about how the EV2's and the Isspros compared to the stock gauges, color wise. Honestly the Dipricols are dead on, but I really like the EV2's as well. Here's some comparison shots...
Stock gauges:
Attachment 41667

Dipricol Optix:
Attachment 41668

Isspro EV2's (they're not as green as this portrays, the lighting was weird, but it is definitely a different green. Also note the pointers, the red's don't quite match either, but they're not as noticeable as these pics show. I'm still happy with them though!
Attachment 41669

Here's a "project box" from Radio shack. This holds my vegistroke switches. Auto/off/manual switch on left, Purge switch on right, will be adding a coolant pump switch here soon. This box is around $5 and certainly beats cutting a huge hole in the dash like they recommend.
Attachment 41670

Valentine 1, nuff said...
Attachment 41671

JVC XG700 deck, reads USB and has aux in for IPOD in front.
Attachment 41672

Next gauge and other parts waiting to go on. These all go hand in hand. That is a coolant temp gauge, a switch to match the vegistroke switches but with a blue light that will mount in that project box, and the coolant pump there to help circulate coolant back to my vegistroke tank for those really cold winter days.
Attachment 41673

Any questions just ask...:c:

Thanks for the offer, but I am going to look for a 4 gauge pod, EOT-ECT-Fuel Pressure-and Pyro. If I can't find one I might fab one, I have worked with fiberglass on other projects before and might tackle this on rainy days.

Same here, going to a 4 pod above the mirror. Still need to get oil temp for veggie, so I know approximately what temp the oil is before it gets burned. Also need to get a regular oil temp for my actual oil temp.... ahhhh it's never ending.

Senior 05-24-2011 09:40 PM

That's what I'm starting to think. I haven't looked at autometer yet but I think I may go with their gauges too. I might be able to save $75-100 vs. the EV2's and that would almost be a coolant filter kit.

Ruger5901 05-24-2011 10:12 PM

Mdub, whenever you get ready to sell it give me a shout and ill buy it.

My buddy just bought some autometers... I was kind of disappointed to see that it came with none of the wiring. I didn't know that until he got them. The EV2's are all full sweep electrics. You can get cheaper gauges that don't have full sweep, that saves some money, but at the end of the day gauges you get what you pay for. Autometer is still a good well known brand though and I would still recommend them. I know my EV2's coolant temp gauge and the soon to be in my possesion oil temp gauge run about $100 a piece, my fuel pressure was $135 or so.

Is that radio Satellite ready?? what did that set you back?

Is it satellite ready, but I already had the stand-alone sirius dock setup, which will work with ANY radio with an FM signal. The deck itself is the XG-700, ran about $200 new. They had a slightly less expensive version, the XG-500, but I don't recall the differences. I'm sure they're both obsolete by now, got it like 2 years ago. It's pushing a pair of Infinity Reference 5x7's in the front doors and a pair of Infinity Kappa 5x7s' in the back doors. Sounds good, but I really want to get an amp in there. I've had really good luck with JVC decks, used a ton of them. Had every one of the "el-kameleon" decks since high school. Loved those too. Just wanted to try out a double-din setup, and I like it! :c:

spelt22000 05-25-2011 04:33 PM

Very nice!!
I have the same stand alone sirius setup also but its nothing like the radios that come sirius ready from the factory. My brother has a factory set up and when he tunes into a station he doesnt lose it regardless of how far he drives. Just the opposite, as u well know, with our stand alone units. I tune in to Stern for instance in my area, start driving, and it could be 30-70miles when i have to find a new "open" channel to receive signal again:argh:ve. pain in the a$$!!
Also like the usb and ipod ready feature.. Looks like i will be checking out new decks in the near future since i was really let down when i purchased the truck and realized it didn't even have an ipod port.

You're gonna love me now.

Buy that. Unhook the FM transmitter from the sirius stand-alone thing, throw it in the trash. Hook this up. Send this to the back of your radio/deck. Unplug the FM antenna, plug this in between the deck and the antenna and BAM, no more worrying about having to change stations. Turn the sirius on, and this will over-ride ANY station you're listening to, even one that would normally come in clear, this will be crystal clear. You can thank me later.

spelt22000 05-26-2011 07:59 AM

You mean i've been driving around for four long yrs dealing with a problem that wouldve been taken care of with something so damn simple??
Now that's what im talking about!!!
Thanks brother!!

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

One more question:

If i hook this up then i am obviously running off my sirius antenna but when i want to listen to normal radio then i guess im still listening off the sirius antenna? Is this what you do i take it? when you go back to normal radio, does that antenna perform like the stock truck antenna?

Took me a while to find this too, stumbled on it from a forum, you'd think Sirius would push this a little more?

Everything will work like normal, this basically is just a "go-between" for the factory antenna and factory deck. You turn the Sirirus on and this over-rides everything, you shut it off, factory radio works just like it did before. The way the sirius works is actually becomes an FM transmitter, meaning it's creating it's own FM station, and you're trying to pick it up with your stock antenna, so instead of having that stupid transmitter antenna in the corner of your windshield trying to emit to your factory radio antenna, this plugs right in the line, and wham, great connection! Try it out, you will NOT be disappointed.:c:

Diesel_Daddy6.0 02-02-2012 12:09 AM

Senior you still looking for a quad overhead?

Riffraff Diesel: AutoMeter Overhead Console

TTcummins99 02-02-2012 12:31 AM

haha i guess with with a ford you need all the gauges to make sure it don't blow up :arch:

lol I'm just kidding guys not hating :tttt:

Plus, I like turtles.

Mdub707 02-02-2012 07:59 AM

You cummins guys always have something to say, but what I always find funny is that we see a lot of cummins guys hanging out in the 6.0 section... I know I don't ever go to the cummins section though... wonder what's up with that?

You like turtles too?

Welcome to the site! :c:

Compared to CSI amd MDUB, I don't have much in my truck. :D On top of the dash is a 2 5/8" Spoort Comp Pyro, in the dash is a 2 1/16 Sport Comp fuel psi, and the Scan GaugeII is below the JVC on the right. If I had the patients I would change out all of my OEM lights to red.

amesquita44 06-07-2012 10:21 PM

so just a quick question for your pods what kind of paint are you using so they match the int. and also everybody has these other gauges i think i saw a fuel gauge does the one that came stock not work or did you add a bigger fuel tank

1st Diesel 06-07-2012 11:02 PM

WOW. I would be so embarrassed to post pics of my cockpit. HAHA. Quick question. How in the crap do ya'll post pics up like this? I could never figure it out. Also I want to put one up with my signature like you have MDub, but I can't figure out how. Advice would be appreciated. Thank ya

That other fuel gauge in my truck is for my vegistroke tank in the bed of my truck, so I know how much fuel is in that. I like watching that one go up and down and watching my factory one stay in the same spot on long road trips.

photobucket.com brother. For the signature one, you're going to have to play around with the size of it first. I just use microsoft paint to shrink my pictures down, then just load it up on photobucket, copy the link and drop it in your signature.:c:

no gauges

he yall i have an 05 f250 6.0l its pretty much completly stock except it has a 3 inch lift and a sct extreme tuner and next week im putn my egr delete and some new glow plugs. I have no gauges but im wantin to put some in what should my first couple gauges be and how hard is it to install gauges since this is my first diesel ive never done this type of install before.

Curry 06-08-2012 08:26 PM

EGT, ECT, Trans, and oil or volts. Installation is fairly easy just take your time and do it right. I would suggest getting the 4 gauge pillar pod 99-07 Ford Super Duty PowerStroke Quad Custom Gauge Package

Im running volts, fuel pressure, EGT, and boost on my pillar pod. Also running Edge insight cts for all my other gauges.

Lilpooh 06-09-2012 01:06 AM

1 Attachment(s)
Pyro, boost, trans, ECT, and EOT on the pillar, fuel psi on the column and DashBoss that monitors everything including EGT and Fuel psi on the iPhone.

Attachment 37997

Mdub707 06-09-2012 01:04 PM

If I had to do it all again, I'd go with:

Fuel pressure (#1 most important gauge on a 6.0 IMO)
EOT
ECT
Pyro

Also, why are you doing all the glow plugs? They RARELY go bad on 6.0's.
