EGT??

I see everyone talking about the egt. What should the temp run on a 6.0?? what is considered high??

Is there any programers that have a egt gauge built into them?

I'm not sure on the temps, but as far as the guage, a lot of modules, even the "fuel economy coach" BullyDog Watchdog has one, but you still need to buy and install the EGT probe behind the turbo.

If you're running stock you basically can't get it hot enough to even worry about. Safe temps for extended periods are 1250 or less. Short bursts like a sled pull or a drag race, it can go higher.

Think of it like putting your hand in an oven at 450. You put your hand in for a quick second and pull it out and it's ok. Hold it in there for 30 seconds and see how hot it gets.

I know some guys get close to 1800* on a drag race or sled pull. If you're getting that hot you may want some water to add to the mix. I've maxed my 1600* gauge a couple times. I try to keep the heat real low now though so I don't have to do headgaskets again. Heat is bad obviously, so just use common sense. When I tow, I try not to go over 1100 at all, but the magic number you'll see on the boards is 1250 or less.:c:
