lacks power
my 2006 psd when its not warmed up stumbles and acts like its missing. lacks power too. when the engine warns up this all goes away. ive had it to 2 ford dealers and both have told me nothing is wrong with it....it doesnt matter if its cold or warm out either

It's an anti-rapid-disassemble feature built into the turbo and computer, the vanes on the VGT remain closed until the oil is up to operating temperature so that you don't burn up the bearings in the turbo

Lol I just asked about this yesterday.
Should have mentioned that if it happens when your truck is warmed up then the vanes are most likely stuck. Happened to ym truck awhile back. So i took it to Ford and they cleaned the vanes in the turbo. Made a world of a difference. |
I'll bet you my paycheck it's sticking injectors. Good luck getting a dealer to fix it under warranty. It's few and far between.
Buy some Rev-X, add it, try it out, let us know if that fixes the issue. I'll bet it does. I've never heard of this anti whatever built into the turbo... Not saying it isn't true cause Ford releases new flashes often and never seems to spread the word. However, I'm fairly certain that is NOT his issue. |
thanks for the info. no only does it on a cold start, doesnt matter if its 70 out if its a cold start it does it

A stuck turbo could cause issues of low power, but it wont have the shudder he's describing like sticky injectors do.
The Rev X is $30 a bottle, so $60 for your first try. That's pretty cheap to figure out a problem on one of these trucks, at worst all it's going to do is help it run smoother anyways. Buy the Rev X. I'll eat my hat if it's not cleared up.

If you have a stuck turbo you'd see black smoke, or have poor performance sure, but you should also be able to tell this from your boost gauge. |
ive ordered me some revx. the turbo boost gauge says ive got 25 + when it does this so im thinking the turbo is ok

i'm having the exact same issues as you are and i also have a 2006 psd. i'm gonna try the rev-x as well. just the other day i updated my tuner and the tunes from innovative, reloaded the extreme street tune and the next morning it didn't shudder and miss for about a mile after the cold start/take off. i though alright! its a miracle! but then, i was bitch slapped back into reality and it started doing it again until all the temps were up. must have just been a fluke. like i've said before, i love this truck, but that little issue is getting on my nerves. i am gonna do an ficm test this week. i do know the ficm was replaced by ford less than a year ago but that don't mean it aint broke. if it was the ficm wouldn't it be doing it all the time though? ---AutoMerged DoublePost---

It's your call, if you just changed 500 miles ago, just run it like that. It's amazing how fast that stuff works. Mine smoothed out in about 15 seconds of run time, no joke.
In reality the REV-X is just a band-aid over the sticky injectors and the only thing that truly fixes it is replacement. At least if it works you know where the problem is though. Some guys even run it as a preventative thing too. Also if any of you guys are doing oil analysis, make sure to note on it that you're running the REV-X, they often mistake it for coolant contaminating the oil. Just an FYI. |
