6.0 pumping oil into cooling system

HELP did egr delete ARP studs black onyx head gasgkets, engine starts after it builds oil pressure within 5 minutes i have no oil on the dipstick! engine runs fine no smoke no smell also it loses oil pressure ater shut down. what i mean if i let it set 5 to 10 minutes i have to crank 20 or 30 seconds to build oil pressure again. then it fires and runs fine but I am building oil water mix in the degas bottle.

did this start occuring after you did the studs or are those just your modds so far

Did you replace the oil cooler while you were doing the work? Sounds like a failed oil cooler

zokie 04-04-2011 09:15 PM

yes new high flow oil cooler, egr delete ARP bolts. I think the problem came when i started installing the ARP studs. seems there was some oil in couple of the holes that got in between the layers when I installed the studs. I noticed this on the drivers side and removed head and cleaned the layers. It is up and running now.:jump:

high flow oil cooler???

zokie 04-06-2011 09:32 PM

from IPR has wider larger passages

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

did studs gaskets and cooler when i had the problem everything is new, I thought i had found the issue but i was wrong replaced the right side head gasket again seen no signs of failure. pumps over a qt in a mile to the point it overflows the cooling system. pulled oil cooler pressure tested coolent side with cooler in water and now bubbles

Little Luke 04-06-2011 09:54 PM

did you have the heads decked to make sure they are flat?

That doesn't sound good for the quality of the IPR product ......

i would say it was a bad process in manufacturing not sure how it is assembled heat treated or?? IPR has been great for tech support as far as trouble shooting

They're conveniently out of stock due to "high demand" probably has nothing to do with them failing and having to be replaced????

I've never even heard of them until you guys brought it up. I was confused as all heck, IPR - Injector Pressure Regulator, on the back of the motor. Never knew there was a company named IPR.

What's so bad about the stock oil cooler that you went that route? Stock is cheaper too...

zokie 05-09-2011 02:43 PM

stock oil cooler has much smaller passages easier to clog. the problem was the studs not the cooler the studs were installed at the factory. Some studs were installed with the small tapered side into the oil cooler threads were much weaker because the bottom portion of the stud had very little contact with the oil cooler threads and only had the top 2 threads holding the stud into place.

I took one of the studs and ground it flat and reinstalled it into the oil cooler and it was much tighter. IPR will be using a different supplier for the studs and will be inserting a steel threaded insert to eliminate this issue

I know what everyone claims with the stock oil cooler... once you have a coolant filter it's not really an issue anymore.

Glad you got it figured out though.
