fuel mileage question

can sticking variable veins reduce your fuel mileage? what kind of fuel mileage do you guys get out of your six-o? I'm getting 14.33

This topic is brought up quit often here. Im sure youll find them if you search. As for MPG it depends. Im running all stock other then a 4 inch turbo back exhaust. If I can keep it under 70 mph or 2k rpm then Ill get roughly 14 to 16 a gal. But once I go over it drops pretty much. This is highway driving. Now for city driving with lots of stop n go and not getting over 40 mph. It drops dramaticly to about 10 mpg.
I just recently posted this on another thread. Must I got with a full tank ( 36+gals topped off tilll you see fuel in filler neck) was about 520 or 540 miles. ( I cant remember) But I average about 360 to 420 per tank.

as for teh vains sticking. Im pretty sure it will effect the mpg. As your using more fuel to get up to spend with a turbo that wont spool completly. I had mine cleaned at ford a couple months ago and I noticed alot better exceleration and just a tad better mpg.

13-15mpg here, extended cab short bed 4x4 auto, running tunes all the time (tunes switch all around though).

Yes stuck veins can kill your mileage, but I don't think it's too far off. Ford's are built like trucks, so they're usually a bit heavier than the other offerings out there.

Current weather temps, current winter blend fuel, and your location make those numbers reasonable. I got additional mods, 6" lift and 35's that get 14+MPG regularly for this time of year.

Yeah, its pretty heavy. I had it on the scales last week and with me in it and a half tank of fuel it weighed 7800 lbs

10-11mpg, but most of my driving is to/from work, and i have a 4.5ton excursion with oversized tires, and i drive 15 miles to work and it takes me between an hour and an hour and twenty minutes. Basically the worst possible driving conditions. Cross PA turnpike maintaining 65mph the entire way I can get 20.2mpg max.

I get around 20 with my F350 4x4 CC dually I have a 6 spd manual

Last two tanks ended up being 15.5 towing 5000 lb at 65 mph half way on a 420 mile round trip. The other was about 17 mpg, thats keeping it on the flatlands going to college on an 80 mile round trip every day and keeping it under 60mph. I think I get about 15 to 16 mpg running around here in the hills though. :humm:

My 2006 4x4 F250 Crew cab short bed is getting right at 17 if I keep it slowed down to 70. Thats off the computer since I have not actually topped it off and then manually did the math on my next fill up.

Ruger5901 05-15-2011 03:40 PM

18 here... 2004 f250 crew cab short bed 72,000 miles

Mdub707 05-16-2011 07:18 AM

15 every day all day, extended cab short bed 4x4 auto. I never beleive anyone who says they get 20 with a 6.0. Just me...

Also are you guys topping up to the fuel cap and recording and doing this manually? Going off the lie-o-meter is a joke.

Little Luke 05-16-2011 07:50 AM

yes sir, manually:choochoo:. I will admit though, if I reset the trip and the lie-o-meter at the same time after I fill the tank, It will actually be pretty close to what I figure by calculator. The sucky part is the display that reads out the number of miles you have left will screw you over. The last 50 miles may only get you 30 miles:argh:.
Something else to remember is the tire size. I'm not sure what stock tire size is, But I'm running 33"s.

Just made a round trip to Tahoe and got 21 MPG on extreme race!!!:rocking:

My buddy had an 05 that would RUN OUT of fuel when the meter said 100 miles left til empty. Sometimes it went as far as 65 miles to empty, but as soon as it got to 100 or so he'd make an emergency stop to pull over and get fuel, that bad.
