Glow Shift gauges!!!

ANy good??

Mdub707 03-08-2011 02:01 PM

NO. They're called glowshit for a reason. :c:

Gauges are definitely one of those things you get what you pay for.

and no a cheap digital gauge is not worth a crap either...and I dont trust the ones on the programmers either...they IMO are like lights on shoes...

so,, Any ideas??
Was thinking about going w/ 4 total gauges but is that really needed?

fuel pressure - a must for any setup that has had fueling problems in the past...dodge vp's for sure...was the 1st gauge I got for my 99.
exhaust temp - a must have for any turbo'd engine
boost pressure - pretty handy and has a small fun factor - chicks love boost =P
trans temp if you have an auto...some makes have them built in and you get an idiot light once it gets too high

I have used diproco and autometer both have been fine...

Fuel pressure yes, #1 most important on a 6.0.
EGT gauge, yes if you have a tuner, if not, don't bother.
Boost, pointless, since they have a boost gauge stock from 05+
Trans temp is also useless on a 5R110 unless towing heavy daily. They are ridiculously strong and do NOT get hot at all. If you tow 10K + every day, then yes. I have one, and I've NEVER got it over 180* during 90* summer day towing a 5klb camper uphill with tunes on. These trans rock

Dipricol is a great brand, but you can't get them anymore because they are out of business (sucks, I have these gauges too)
Autometer is good, lots of choices from them
ISSPRO EV2's are great too.

For gauges, if you do get 4, get:

Fuel Pressure
Oil temp
Coolant temp (need to monitor coolant and oil temp simultaneously, they shouldn't exceed 15* difference, it's a sign oil cooler is failing, which leads to blown EGR coolers and blown headgaskets)
EGT (pyro)

Again, if no programmer yet, or no plans for one, drop the EGT gauge and get the first 3.

The first three gauges I bought for my 6.0 were boost/egt/trans temp, and if I did it over again, I'd get the 3 I just told you. Wish I knew then what I know now.:c:

You can not go wrong with Isspro, be it EV2 or Performax...

Getting my wish list together..

I know they are cheep but I tried a set and they worked fine for me and always read the right temps the only think I did not lime it that they are kinda bright at night. I know a few people that use them in thee race cars with good luck

Mdub707 03-09-2011 01:56 PM

They have no dimmer settings like most other gauges. There is a way to wire them up so they dim to 1/2 brightness at night when you turn your lights on though... couldn't tell you how though.
