Turbo Cuts out at Idle
I have done some searching and am not coming up with anything on this. About two months ago Ford replaced the half shell of my FICM. I beleive they updated my ECM with the inductive strategy updates as well. Every since, when the truck is idleing, i can hear the turbo kick in and out. I have never heard one do this before. I have a 4" turbo back system so it is easy to hear this going on. It will kick out for 5-15 seconds then kick back in. I have not had any problems while driveing. I did take the turbo off last weekend and cleaned it up. But this problem has been happening for the last two months. What do you think? Would any of the newer computer updates cause this?
It's the new flash ford put on your truck when you took it in.... It's just the vanes cycling in your turbo, nothing wrong with it at all and it won't cause any problems, it's actually good for your turbo
haha just making sure. I cut my muffler off of my truck when I first got under there, then when I pulled it out I realized I could have unbolted it... Just making sure someone else doesn't do the same mistake!!!
I took my straight pipe off and put a cat on for my registration inspection, but since the cat was borrowed and i was too lazy too put my straight pipe back on and had just the downpipe behind the turbo. Bitch was OBNOXIOUSLY loud, I couldn't even hold a conversation in the cab with the windows up let alone listen to the radio. Needless to say I only drove it like that for a week before it started giving me a headache and I threw the full pipe back on.
