HID Issues, Need GOOD Ideas?

I got this truck back in May '10 and it had a little issue of the driverside headlight not wanting to cut on when asked (auto/manual). If it did not come on it usually took less than 3 trys b/4 it would deside to. It was a new to me truck so I could deal with that... recently I have noticed that the driver side headlight is not as bright as the passenger side. Almost like the bulb is not getting enough juice or maybe even a different bulb.

Is there anyone who has had a similar issue to this OR, has an idea of why this may be happening? I am new to this HID stuff so Details are always appreciated. Both lights have a square looking balast that is connected to them so I am thinking they are HID lights.

The passenger side has a nice white/blue glow, the driverside not so much.

You might have a regular bulb stuffed in the drivers side and an HID in the passenger side, just a thought. Look at them, the HID will be hooked up throught he ballast, which is connected to the stock harness on one side. Make sure both sides are hooked up through the ballast, if one side is plugged into factory harness, it's the regular bulb. The bult itself could just be dying though I guess... or the ballast crapping out!?

Yea the hid ballast do go out over time and will cause him and hard starting lights.

Some HID's have a relay that provides full power to the lights. I think it comes straight off of the battery. My Harley sometimes will not fire initially(2 headlight bike). I have to flip the switch a few times to get it to fire. Maybe google HID relay.

Thanks for all the help. I have not had a chance to work on the truck yet since it has been dark when I leave and dark when I return, but hopefully I'll get a chance to look at it this week end.

As a side note, the lights seem to fire better when it is cold out side <40 F. I haven't thought to really look if it is brighter or not though.
