6.0 EGR COOLERS

Hi Guys, New here and need some help from the professionals. I am responsible for 3 Ford E450 Ambulances with the 6.0 engine. I have a 2004 that is always having issues with the EGR valves and now blowing a lot of white smoke. Ford has it again after sitting at the dealership for 2 weeks back in December for a EGR valve and some broken plastic tube off the turbo. Anyway, they are telling me that the EGR Cooler is shot as well as the oil cooler and costs are going to exceed $3000.00. We just spent $2000.00 last month and now this. Any input on thoughts and solutions would be greatly appreciated. It only has 46,000 miles on it.

Thanks,

Scott

yes the 6.0's are known for their egr cooler and valve letdowns, as well as the oil coolers. they are all a direct relation to each other. and they are expensive fixes. i think ford has done some upgrades to their coolers in terms of design but im not positive. there are other places out there that make replacements with alot better designs for the coolers such as bulletproof diesel. is the motor under waranty?

Yea that is a common thing on a 6.0 could of been caused by excesive idaling. And yes that is about what it cost to replace them and you should do both oil cooler and EGR you can delete the EGR and fix it for good or you could get a bullet proof diesel egr cooler which is 10X better that the stock cooler and the factory oil cooler is really good you just need to keep your coolant clean i would put a coolant filter on or get rid of the ford gold coolant crap and install some good ELC that is cat-1 rated.

oil cooler is $250 or less on ebay (oem Ford)
EGR full delete setup (gets rid of cooler and valve) are $200 on ebay...

Find someone local to do the work for you or do it yourself and save a ton of coin!:c:

My guess is you need to keep them stock for warranty purposes though huh? Especially since I'm guessing they're not your vehicles, just something you look after.

I imagine warranty and emmisions are a concern on this vehicle so he is what we would offer you.

I would put a Bullet Proof EGR cooler in it! They may even have a oil cooler option! Fix it once and for all
