soot and sludge

Was having a small loss of power this week in my truck ( 07 F350 6.0) so I went to clean my EGR this morning ( last time was 8k miles ago ) and the egr seemed to have pretty normal soot on it. But as i looked into the intake it was black as heck. Stuck my finger in and on the bottom was about 1/2 inch of sludge. Sticky and wet like burned oil. IS this a sign of oil or egr cooler failure? Or should it just be cleaned? My degas bottle has lost NO water. Have no signs of smoke be it white/ blue or black and gray. Also to note I had my Fuel pressure regulator replaced less then 2k miles ago by Ford. This was because I was smelling fuel in the cab. Thought it was a cracked turbo hose. Which they didnt replace. And also the turbo was cleaned and the unison ring was replaced by Ford.

Truck runs fine. Starts fine. Just had the loss of power which wasnt that much but I could feel it. BTW.. No mods as its all stock but a 4inch exhaust.

If you're still under warranty take it in. Most likely your EGR and Oil Cooler are toast.

yeah still under warranty. Have 65k on the clock right now. Just thought that if the egr was going that Id be losing coolant. Def going to take it in today after errands.

Unless you have a "WET" intake manifold, EGR cooler is probalby fine, the soot is just build up from the EGR setup. Delete it, have the intake manifold hot tanked and cleaned.

If the EGR valve sticks, you'll lose power but coolant level wont change, if the cooler fails, then yes you'll have coolant in the intake/exhaust.

The inside isnt persay WET. Its kinda like burned up oil. Thick like molasses if you will. The last time I did my EGR clean it was pretty clean inside and that was only about 8k miles ago. And now its about 3/8 thick inside. I will be deleting it just hope I can get away with it in California if perchance that I will have to smog it again. I do have it registered from my home down which never had annual or by annual smog. Just once when ti was sold or bought.
Taking to to Ford ina couple minutes to have them check it out since its still all under warranty. But from the sounds of it and what you sid about the EGR.. I think my EGR has failed. Even after cleaning it it still dont have that pop to it when you get on the right peddle!! So ill have Ford confirm it. Also noticed last night that the blue intake turbo hose that they were supposed to replace has tons of oil all over it. So I think that it shot.
