04 6.0 powerstroke won't start

My friend has a 04 6.0 powerstroke, and she is having problems with it starting, it cranks good but won't turn over, the 1st time it wouldn't start we checked the secondary fuel filter to make sure fuel was getting there, it was, after the cap was put back on it started right up, but fuel leaked from somewhere (about a 18" round puddle) there was no problems for about the next 2 weeks, then one morning it just wouldn't start again, (both mornings were extremely cold) and now it just won't start at all, does anybody know what it could be?

My friend did say that she didn't think the truck ran great during the 2 weeks. also i think it leaked fuel 1 more time.

Well no fuel pressure would certainly cause an issue, and if it was run on low fuel pressure the injectors could have easily been damaged. Get a fuel pressure gauge on it and see what it's putting out. You can test it right at the bowl where that secondary filter is, just have to get an adapter to plug it in one of the test ports.

early or late 04

is this truck an early or late 04? the early 04s had a problem with the ICPsensor/injection control pressure sensor/ the early ones are right on the HPOP and pain to get to, the late 04s it is located on the passenger side valve cover, they had a problem with oil coming through the sensor and giving false readings, had it happen on my truck, it would try to start and stumble, then it just wouldn't start until I replaced it. Just a note if it is the early one don't try to access it from underneath like the books say, just take out the degas bottle and the FICM and you can get to it from up top, it will save you about a day, trust me!!!!

Turns out it was a bad fuel pump, so everything is running good now

Fuel pressure gauge is #1 most important add-on to a 6.0.
