MPG's went down after EGR delete

From what I have read there should not be a drop in fuel mileage after installing a EGR delete, but that was not the case after mine was done. With SCT custom tunes I was getting 16.5 to 17 MPG's before the EGR delete. Now, after the delete I am getting 13.5 to 14 MPG's. Does anyone know what could have caused this? Or if they experienced the same result after they installed a delete. I had a basic delete done...cooler removed, EGR removed and everything capped.

Unless something is leaking back there, there should be no reason for that large of a jump. Do you have any codes being thrown? Might try hooking it up to a scanner. (the truck wont always trip the check engine light, but might still have codes). Who's tunes are you using?

There is nothing leaking that I can see or hear. The turbo seems to be working correctly too. I haven’t got a check engine light, but will check for codes when I get home. My tunes are from "MPT".

It doesnt make since ot me...the truck is running fine.

Could just be a fluke, How many tanks of fuel are you basing this off of? Just one?

Working on the second tank now.....I thought the samething on the first one, but I am down to 1/2 tank on my second fill up and only have 125 miles.

For all I know they may have changed the diesel blend in my area at the first of the year and that has caused it, and there is nothing wrong with the truck.

Next time you fill up look at the fuel. Still doesn't seem like it would drop it THAT much though.

I just changed to see of there had been codes tripped with my SCT. There were not any. I guess I will keep tracking it and hope the MPG's improve or I find the cause.
