Front Sway bar

Can I drive my 2003 F-250 without the front sway bar? Is this a bad idea? Has anyone ever removed their front sway bar?

Why are you wanting to do that?

I've only rode in one vehicle before that had it disconnected, and it was a scary ride. Imagine turning the wheel back and forth, the vehicle didn't really seem to turn at all, all turning motion had been translated into the vehicle rocking from side to side. I'd never ride in one again like that.

If you were wanting to do this for off-road purposes, figure out a quick disconnect setup.

Actually the reason for doing it is because I hastily removed the sway bar links and presses the bushings out thinking I would be able to get new ones right away.

I could not locate bushings anywhere so I had to order them and they won't be in for a week and I really need the truck between now and then.

Pissed about it but what can i do, I wasn't spending $80 a piece ($160 for the pair) for new link bars when i could get the bushing set for $40

You CAN drive it, just be careful and know what you're doing. Try it out you'll see what I mean. It might not be AS bad in one of these trucks due to the stiff suspension factory. The vehicle I was in was a Jeep Cherokee and it had lift springs (only like 2") in the front, so they were a little soft too. It's not like it's going to be a complete hazard going down the road, but if you're in a pinch and need the truck it can be done.

Expect increased body roll it's going to feel top heavy as you go into hard turns. Drive slow when taking a turn, try to avoid sudden lane changes or swerving, and just be safe with it.
