Default Console LED not working anymore

Anybody got and idea why this LED readout in the console headliner would quit working? I thought maybe it would have been a fuse but nothing else has quit. This device has a compass, fuel consumption, thermometer, etc. I guess I should check the owners manula and find out which fuse works this device dirst. Thanks for the answer if anybody out there has experienced this before!

Lately, as I have been getting down to the lower end of the tank, I am getting the trucks reaction as if it is running out of fuel. I mean I feel like I barely can make it to the pumps! I usually could get around 345 miles on a tank of 27 gals. and fill up with a full load of 25-27 gals. Now it seems as the fill up point must be at around 1/8 of a tank(no less) and I better be filling up. When I top it off, I have only pumped 22-24 gals, that's it! I anly got around 265-285 miles on that tankful. Truck rines normal as long as I don't let it get below 1/4 to 1/8 of a tank! Could the pick up tube have changed postions down inside the tank?
Also, another issue I have is that the truck is very "rough" staring in the mornings only. Shortly after (15 mins)warm up time, it settles right out and never had another problem the rest of the day. Wondering if somehow these issues are related?

Check all your ground cables from the batteries to the frame. Make sure they are nice and tight with no corrosion on them. About 90% of electrical problems are due to a faulty ground. Other then that maybe get a multi-meter and check voltage and current.

OK, thanks! I just recently had a new battery installed on the passenger side of the truck, but this issue was happening before that. All connections at the batteries are in good shape! I have always used the CRC spray on the terminals, that keeps down the corrosion growth imensely! Any suggestions about my low fuel pick up?

I had a problem similair to what your having with teh low fuel pickup[. But wasnt related to fuel at all. Found out my turbo vanes were clogged very bad adn my egr was pretty dirty.. Would act as if I was running out of gas. Couldnt get on the throttle and MPG was about 280 per a 38 gal tank. Cleaned my egr myself and took it to ford for turbo cleaning. Now Im roughly getting 400 MP tank which I still think is nto good enough. But taht could be my lead foot and my hatred for rice burners!!
You will here more from others on similiar problems and what corrections they had done soon.

Good luck findind the problem

Would that make it "rough on cold starts"? Runs great after it warms up. I'm not sure where to look for the EGR valve?

EGR is on top of engine about 7 oclock of the oil filter It's got a electrical connection on top.

If you can down load the 6.0L Bible . It's at the begining of this web site. I think Dieselman has made it available.

My truck didnt run rough. Just had no power as if it wasnt getting any fuel. Sometimes Id try to get on the freeway while it was cold and it struggled to get to 45 mph. But after about 15 minutes it would run better. But after Ford cleaned the turbo vanes it had no problem getting to 75 pretty quick.
Another thing I should mention is to replace the fuel filters.. the 6.0 run 2. One on top of the engine and one on teh frame rail usually about right under the drivers door. Could also need to drain water out of the lower filter even if the water in fuel light doesnt come on. I change my filters every 10k miles. Some people cange them sooner but it all depends on your driving conditions Id say.

The EGR is on top of the engine and doees have the electrical connection to it. Take out 2 retaing bolts on the side and use a small pry bar to wiggle it out. Before you do this go to Ford and buy the O rings which are about $7 for the bag of 2. If there is alot of Carbon built up. ( black soot ) clean it off. I used remoil gun cleaner as it was what I had on hand at the time. LOL But I hear brake cleaner works also. ( I have heard of WD40 and other stuff also ) Then once its cleaned i used a tiny bit of engine oil over the new O rings so they wouldnt slide off and easier to put EGR back in. Oh and DONT get any cleaner on the terminal ro electical parts of the EGR.. Dont soak it in a bowl either.. Its a in the hand job.

Foregot to mention . I dont have the LED guages in ym truck but have had some problerms with dash guages going haywaire or not working.. Ford couldnt find the problem for the life of them.. SO i ha dto find it out myself.. After a few months of slowly going though things when ti acted up I found that the connectors right under neath the fuse pannel box on the left side fender well become loose somehow., even though the have snaps connections. Coulod jsut be my truck but its what I found thats causing my dash and guages to act up.. Worth a look.

Hey man, thanks for all that info. I will try to process it and sort out the thi9ngs that will help me. Sounds like I better check the turbo vanes and the EGR. Might be the problem there. I always warm it up for 15 minutes and usually it is ready to go when I jump in it. No hesitation, it's just when I first crank it up. Boy what a rough feeling! I think that I am going to have to remove the "media center" from the ceiling and see if I am still getting power, no fuses noted in the owners manual!
