Are you doing the EGR delete because of existing problems, or wanting to avert potential problems? The reason why I ask this is; if you are having issues such as coolant blowing back out the degas tank/reservoir, then the damage may already be done. Have you had the Oil Cooler replaced in the truck? Does your dad flush the Coolant system annually? If you elect to go with ARP studs, I strongly suggest to have the heads taken to a reputable Machine Shop and have them magnaflux, and check surface for warpage. You will likely find the heads have cracks around the valve seats also. If you go with the EGR delete kit, give consideration towards the Oil cooler also.

No if the truck is running fine with no EGR problems you do not haft to install head studs. But if you do install a EGR delete i would go ahead and install a new oil cooler you are pretty much there so why not cheep insurance you can buy both off e-bay for less than $600.00. And yes if you do do head studs i would be shure to have them checked and decked.

What year truck? 03/04 are common for NOT throwing a check engine light after EGR delete, while 05-07 usually do and an SCT with custom tunes will get rid of it, but it's not a necessity.

Has anyone noticed a power increase or better performance after instaling an EGR delete?

I've heard some folks suggest that their performance seem to improve with the EGR delete. I have improved performance also, but I can not confirm it is specific to the EGR delete. My intention was not predicated on performance, but for improved reliability factors.

My opinion is if you are going to do any of that stuff, you might as well bite the bullet and do it all. Studs, gaskets, EGR delete, remove scoop from up pipe, clean the turbo, have the heads surfaced and checked and put all the intake parts in the parts cleaner. It's a $3500 deal, but it's also like having a whole new motor, that is more reliable. my .02cents.

That is no where near a $3500 project, unless you paid your machine shop a LOT. Or if you paid for labor...

I agree though that stuff should ultimately be done at some point no matter what just to keep a 6.0 reliable.
