STUD OR NOT

Got a 2005, 6.0L 180K, I know the HP is coming, but I am planning a trip to Alaska with a fiver in tow, would it be safe to re-stud one at the time without lifting the head?
Would lift the cab, replace the HP, pull 1 bolt, put a ARP stud & torque to spec then next one & so on.
What all thinks? :s: :s: :s:
thankss wrench

You can do that and i know of a few people that do but with 180K on factory heads and gaskets i would probley go ahead and install new gaskets and get the heads decked. I would save your self some time and do it right the first time just my thought

We did the one at a time method with out lifting the cab on a 04. It only had 30,000 on the clock and no issues to speak of. One of our other friends bought a used motor and did the one at a time method about a month later he was on the side of the road blown head gasket with one unhappy girlfriend and 3 very unhappy horse that he was towing for her.

Yeah with 180K on the clock i agree with what they said above, Id get a good set of head gaskets like the black onyx ones and get the heads decked and stud it then you will be goo to go for a long time

No way I would even go under the hood to do something like that without pulling the heads and having them decked. This is coming from a guy who has had 3 headgasket failures and I'm just turning 75k miles. Do it once, do it right. :c:
