?? How to drain fuel/water seperator??
I received a water in fuel light on my 05 f250 so like a good little boy I went to the ford book. After looking at the sparse instructions I found the horizonal mouted fuel filter, but for the life of me, I could not find the drain lever that is referenced in the book. Has anyone else had to drain the water seperator on a 6.0L? If so, what is the best way to do it?
I know I must be over looking something, but what?? |
There is no lever, there is an allen head cap that is on the side of it, need the allen wrench to loosen it, then take it out and it will drain.

i looked for mine also before i changed to air dog on the 2005
could not find it on my gmc diesel van with the 350 converted to diesel motor:scare2: from the factory there was a little wing nut on the lift pump under the drivers side can you imagine crawling under a f350 with an allan wrench trying to take off a allan screw to drain the water out in the slush ...on the side of the road....priceless:tu: |

Mdub how often do you drain your filter? Is it a monthly deal like most of the 7.3 guys do or do you only bother with it if that light pops up? I personally have never had the light, and never drained my filters, but I do my filters every other oil change (10k).

Never seen the light, never drained the hfcm(except when changing the fuel filters.
|
Same as Goose, I drain it when I change my filters, never had the light come on yet. Make sure to use only Motorcraft or the International filters.

Thanks guys! I thought i'd make sure haha. I'll keep doing the same old thing then!:tu:
