And We Have Lift Off
I appreciate that info Mdub. They indicated the lube would damage the studs? If that is true, then when does it occur, at the point of initial torque or once a load has been placed on them from the compression of the cylinder? If it is at initial torque well it's too late now.
Yes, the stud could stretch past it's yield point. I'd think the threads would pull apart first. You're probably OK. Let me look up that contact in the morning and try to get some info from him. Just some reassurance. Didn't mean to give you anything to worry about! Let me talk to the ARP guy first before jumping to conclusions.
I'm getting ready to do HG on my truck. I bought a set of used head from a 2007. The machine shop here has them right now they failed a vacuum test on a couple cylinders so doing a full valve job. Waiting on quote to have hardened valve seats installed due to repeat cracks. Any ideas on pros or cons? Thanks guys. New member here.
If the valve seats are cracked that is not unusual, if you talk with the machine shop guys. Hardened valve seats are the way to go. I assume they did Magnaflux the heads right?
Back up and running.
Started her up about 8:30 last night. Didn't want to start right away and figured it was slow in picking up fuel to injectors. I returned to "stock" tune and she finally fired up. I'm only running distilled water in it now as I am going to add a flush treatment this morning and run that for a day. Once I am finished with the flushing of the coolant system, I will finish off with 3 and 1/2 gals. of Rotella ELC concentrate and 3 and 1/2 gals. of distilled water. Had a water leak from the hose that attaches to water pump housing below thermostat coming from the reservoir coupling. Repositioned the clamp and it stopped.
