changing/flushing tanny fluid

Wondering what opinions are. My '07 has just over 50k on it and I was gonna change the tranny fluid. Have been told by several people that they changed their tranny fluid and their trannies went out shortly thereafter. What would cause this? Should I not change mine. I use the truck for pulling, it gets very few miles put on it without a trailer full of equipment behind it. Thanks for your thoughts.

This is a myth. 100% false. Change the fluid and filters.

Goood idea to change it especially with how you use the truck. Depending on the fluid, this should be done between 30-50k with heavy towing.

the problem is if the vehicle has been using regular tranny fliud all its life (high milage) or never been changed and then you switch to synthetic ....the synthetic will cause problems with the tranny...

thus is what Just Lubes told me when i asked for tranny flush with my 1997 gmc van:argh:

Thats not true at all!! The only way i can c the tranny going out is if they used the wrong tranny fluid. The 5R110 takes mercon sp which is a thinner synthetic fluid. Ive changed both my tranny filters n fluid every 30k since i bought my truck new in 05, it now has 94k n the tranny shifts the same as it did new. Use oem filters and mercon sp fluid n you'll be good!!
