Load test your batteries and Test your FICM. Let me know the results

How long since your last oil change?
|
Fuel filters and oil change will help. I'd be money on glow plugs though, or glow plug harness. FICM and injectors also need to be tested. The problem with this is it's a simple problem, but it has a LOT of possible solutions.

thanks, and the oil and filter were changed about 1,000k ago

It might have it, you would have to get under the truck and look, they're usually zip-tied out of sight. If not, the block heater IS there, but the cord is not. Starting in 05 the cord became an option believe it or not. You can get them on ebay for around $20.

if i wanted it i had to make a speacial order, but ill look into the block heater cord, illl definetly need it for winter.

I have a 03' 6.0L and if it's pretty cold out it takes a few minutes for it to start running smoothly, diesels aren't real big fans of starting in the cold!
|
Mine has always started fine in the cold even without the block heater plugged in. It might take a few tries to get it fired, but once it's fired it always idled pretty smooth. The block heater does help tremendously though, and I use it all the time now to aid in quicker warm-ups, quicker warm-ups mean my veggie system kicks over faster.
