Hazey White Smoke???
I noticed today when I was out just putting around looking at deer that my truck at idle has started puffing a hazey white smoke. I just put a Bully Dog Power Pup on it a few days ago and just noticed it today. The truck only has 77,xxx miles so I'm not that worried about it because it is still under warranty but I would like to know whats going on. Any help would be great. Thanks

Yea it looks just like that. I haven't taken the programmer off yet, did yours do it as bad without the programmer?

Welcome to the world of junk programmers. Crazy timing and poor fuel spray patterns...
You'd be better off with a custom tuned SCT. The highest horsepower tunes for the SCT are safer on your motor and your transmission than any of the other generic "programmers" out there. With that said, these thigs COULD have happened on a stock truck, but running the generic programmers almost guarantees it. I'd lose the bullydogs guys. Just my thoughts.:c: Since you are already smoking, smell the smoke. Is it fuel? (it will burn your eyes and you will smell it). Or is it coolant? (sweet smelling). If it's coolant you either have blown your headgaskets, or ruptured your EGR cooler. |
it still smoked like that with programmer off....

my truck is doing the samething:argh:

Usually when u get blue smoke it means your piston rings are worn out and too much oil is going into the chamber..so when the explosion happens it burns oil that looks blue

It's possible yes, but doesn't happen very often. I know I've had blue smoke before and a lot of other 6.0 owners, usually it's the turbo seals. |
i get some blue smoke when getting back into the pedal or from idle. it doesnt do it everytime though. ???

You can rebuild these too, don't have to replace completely.
