f250 lift kit

does anyone have a pic of a f250 2007 body style with a 8 inch lift with 38 inch or bigger tires .... trying to decide how big to go on lift .....

riddick01 09-19-2010 12:09 PM

if u tow i wouldnt go with an 8. ive got a 4 on my truck and its hard to hook up to a goose neck with it. ive towed bumper pull trailers with a 6 in kit and its not easy. u have to totally change your mirrors around to be able to see the back of the trailer. also if ur pulling a single axle trailer it will whip the truck around like crazy when your that tall.

also before you do the lift and wheels and tires look into the price of tires on the rims u want. i did the lift and then found out i was gunna be payin 2k+ for a decent set of a/ts on 20s

not meaning to turn you off with this but i want to make sure you have the info that you will need before you decide.

as for pics check out the websites for some of the lift companies out there.

gixxertricks 09-19-2010 12:29 PM

Whats a single axle trailer lol? i tow from the bumper with a 10inch lift all the time with no problem. if you tow a goose neck trailer it would have to be modified /"lifted" or not done at all. i dont do any goose neck towing with it however. tires are expensive!! Moral of the story be aware that there are some limitations to driving a lifted truck. build with quality parts and do it right. if your like me your wont care about the bad cause its so much fun driving a lifted truck. CHECK OUT socaltrucks.com for some ideas.

rollingcoal 09-19-2010 01:56 PM

thanks for the tips , i dont pull a goose neck just a dual axle boat trailor . im running the factory ford twenties with 38 1550 20's already so the wheels and tires are already on the truck ...

gixxertricks 09-19-2010 02:28 PM

LIFT IT! You can work on the engine like this :jump:

riddick01 09-19-2010 03:28 PM

like i said i just wanted you to have the info to make a good decision....i tow all sorts of trailers so i have to be able to pull anything

PwrStroked 09-19-2010 09:31 PM

Iv got a 6.5 with 37"s and i can still pull a goose neck but i know with a 8inch you wouldnt be able too but if a boat trailer is all you will be pullin then throw a 8 on. put some pics up when you finish id like to see wat a 8inch with 38's would look like

ryan_101689 09-19-2010 10:23 PM

mine has 8" with 395/65/18 basicly 38 15.50 its an 03 tho a little older then what u want to see but just to get an idea .. i also have a 1/2" block in the back so the back end dosent look like its squating

cummin_un_glued 09-20-2010 09:59 PM

looks good Ryan.....do it Sean!!!

rollingcoal 09-20-2010 10:33 PM

good one

Mdub707 09-21-2010 07:53 PM

So you have a 2" leveling kit and you already have 38x15.50s on it right now? How does that work? 37's rub on some 6" lifts I've seen....

rollingcoal 09-21-2010 10:14 PM

i dont know , i bought a set of used 37 and the guy said i needed a 2 inch leveling kit to fit them . then when those wore out i found a set of barely used 38's and they dont rub either . needless to say i was amazed to. if i cud get the pics to upload id have pics of it up . dont know if pics are to large or what ...

gixxertricks 09-21-2010 10:52 PM

make sure you post pics when your done bud

PwrStroked 09-22-2010 09:24 AM

Did u cut the fender wells out to fit them tires cause my 6.5inch lift
would barely fit 38's if i tried to put some in there.

MUDSTROKIN' 09-22-2010 09:39 AM

If it's on stock rims i don't understand this either? But if he has the tires on aftermarket wheels the offset could be set to not have any rubbing

Mdub707 09-22-2010 05:39 PM

Offset or not, that tire is just too darn tall! My buddy had 37's on 17x9 pro comps and those rubbed with 6.5" lift in the front.

I've heard of some guys getting away with 37's on a leveling kit, but never seen it. Either your fenders are cut or you already have some sort of a lift.... I just can not believe a 38 x 15.50 would fit.... that's insane!

Host the pics on photobucket and then link it here.

rollingcoal 09-22-2010 11:02 PM

iv been trying to post pic of it like it is right now but it keeps telling me upload of pic failed..... is it because im a newbie and limited to how much i can do :humm:

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

i didnt have to trim , adjust , remove or anything other then install a leveling kit (2 inches ) and im running the factory harley davidson twenty inch rims . i couldnt believe they fit either but they do barely

---AutoMerged DoublePost---

i put a link to my facebook , and put truck as profile pic . go take a look and if the facebook link doesnt work let me know .

cummin_un_glued 09-22-2010 11:18 PM

they do fit...they do rub slightly...on the radius arms from the positive offset of the factory rims...i think that also keeps them from hittin the fenders since they are tucked up under the truck and dont stick out

PwrStroked 09-23-2010 11:07 AM

How is that a 15.50 wide tire and they dont scrub when u turn? i have 13.50's and they rub on the springs pretty dang bad when i turn

gixxertricks 09-23-2010 11:10 AM

lifted yet?

PwrStroked 09-23-2010 04:07 PM

Gixxer are u talkin to me? If so i got a 6.5inch lift with 37's on 17x9 wheels. I just don't see how a 38 will fit on a two inch lift cause i had a leveling kit on mine and 35 filled the fender well up pretty good

gixxertricks 09-23-2010 10:15 PM

no i was asking rollingcoal. i run cheap 37" military tires at the moment. my lift is a 10inch superlift so yo can imagine how little they look. gotta save more money for another set of bigger MTZ's. I would think 38's would rub on a 2"lift yes. i can make some 39's rub if i wanted too. lol wheel spacers???

rollingcoal you have a really nice truck too. i love the color and the fact that all your paint is still on it

rollingcoal 09-23-2010 10:24 PM

its my baby , im not hard or ruff on it at all . shes just a looker

RECKLESS 09-24-2010 01:35 AM

very nice truck :tu: im also puttin on at least a 8inch lift :c:

crewcabon22s 01-07-2011 09:09 AM

my profile has a pic of my old 03 psd with an 8" lift and 38x15.5 kumho's. the 15.5 did rub a little on the leaf spring when you turn the wheel all the way in one direction or the other. i would post the pics on the post but i dont know how. man i miss that truck

Really nice truck rollingcoal!

Guys don't forget the 05-07 trucks are coil sprung in the front end vs. the 03/04 and olders are leaf sprung. I see some of you saying your tires rub on the springs, but you have leaf's.

hatman60 02-15-2011 10:20 PM

If i new how to post pics I would do it!! I got a 10 inch lift I had a 8 but went up with 40x15.50s I just starting towing a 36 foot center console around triple axle with no problem get the lift there bada** and get urself some stacks! i had no issues with mirrors or anything like that all in all truck just looks sick!! "my opinion" :tu:

rollingcoal 02-15-2011 11:03 PM

was going to get a single stack but during the summer i hual a boat with white interior and the black suut woodnt look good on it or be easy to clean off after every hualing . so i went with 5 inch turbo back with a 6x18 tip ....

hatman60 02-16-2011 10:46 AM

ya I got that same problem haha. it is always something... good luck beautiful truck.

What kind of setup do you have on the rear? I have a 8 inch fab tech lift and rides real stiff in the rear I'm frustrated with the truck..I was just wondering how smooth your truck rides? Nice truck,I love the color
