gauges?
 

I am getting ready to buy some gauges and I would like your input on the best brand, set ups, and which four to get as far as boost, fuel pressure, egt,coolant, oil, trans., ect. and if you can put up some pics of your set up.

I like autometer or isspro. I would do boost, egt, trans if an auto, and maybe HPOP Pressureif you start heavy modding it

On a 6.OH you need ECT, EOT, FP, and EGT! If you tow heavy I would get a tranny temp also

Just a suggestion, but most everything you are looking for can be done with an electronic set-up and your OBDII port. Fuel pressure will require a regular gauge. I know a lot of guys like the Edge Insight and you can hook up an EGT probe to it.

I use a Scangauge II. You can monitor four PIDs at once. I set mine on coolant temp, oil temp, tranny temp & vary the fourth PID depending on my mood. They have a lot of PIDs that you can monitor and it is cheap. I paid $150 for mine. Then I made my own mount that puts it under my rear view mirror. This keeps it in easy line of sight and it is small enough that it doesn't get in the way. Downside, no way to monitor EGTs.

I have a Glowshift fuel pressure gauge. So far it has worked well for me and their prices are right. I plan on putting in their Elite 10 EGT gauge. It has the ability to recall the peak temp & you can set either a visual or audible warning for highs and lows.

Just some options for you to consider.

I personally like the stand alone gauges that do NOT read from the OBD port, since reading from there will just dupilcate everything the truck is already seeing. So if something goes wrong there, your gauges wont be of much use. Just my thoughts...

I use Dipricol Optix gauges, but I guess they're not selling them anymore!? I've been looking at some of the autometers and they seem to have a very expansive line and choices.

On a 6.0 you will want fuel pressure for sure. That is the #1 important gauge for a 6.0. EGT you will want if you're running a tuner. EOT (engine oil temp) and ECT (engine coolant temp) are very important too. You cant watch these two in conjunction with each other to tell if you have an oil cooler clogging. Quite useful in avoiding headgasket issues.

On an 04 truck you don't have a boost gauge factory. So it's nice to have one, but not totally necessary.

Also the 5R110's are near impossible to get really hot. I wouldn't even bother with a tranny temp gauge unless you're towing 10k lbs every day. I tow a ~5klb 21' camper through the adirondacks, and even during the hottest days of the summer I couldn't break 180 *. If you tow heavy and often, it's not a bad idea though.

im all so looking for a gauge set up.. you guys are talking about oil temp and coolant temps, so factory in dash gauges are not good?? i have a 05 f350:argh:
