HPOPs bad again

so my hpop took a dump again (5th or 6th time in 115k) and im trying to figure out what ive done wrong to make this happen. half the times theyve gone bad they would do the start cold but not hot and the other half she just wouldnt start.

mods r listed in my sig. to go along with them are new 175cc injectors and bigger fuel lines. yesterday she threw a belt (not that that would cause it but im tryin to tell yall all i can)

oil is royal purple 15w40 changed no more than 1500 over every time (except like once a yr or two ago).

any help on what im doin wrong and what i need to do to keep from messin with this little sob would be awesome. i know someone makes a remote oil cooler kit and there are bypass filtration systems but idk how i can afford them and fixing the pump at the same time

thanks for the help

jeremy

I haven't heard one good think about Royal Purple. They're just like Banks with their crazy marketing skills IMO. I still doubt that has anything to do with your HPOP's dying. That is crazy. I've never heard of anyone going through that many? Are you using OEM ones again? Have you talked to Bob Riley about one of his pumps? If memory serves you were already running one no?

Neal technologies, or better known as bulletproof diesel who makes the upgraded EGR coolers sells the remote mount oil cooler setup. They do add a filter too it as well. They pretty much all have to be bypass filters so if it clogs the motor is still fed oil. Surely you've read about the problems with Deranged and how an improper filter on a remote mount system killed a VERY EXPENSIVE race motor with only a couple passes on it? The 6.0 oil system uses a large volume of oil and circulates it FAST. There's some good reading about the oil systems and how they work in powerstrokenation, specifically if you read in the deranged threads by Dalpilot, some of the funny threads by Doug, username PSDplayer, and some of the posts about the FCDP ranger, since they were developing a system for that truck that was a remote oil filter setup.

i did look at his pumps but at the time that my last one went bad i was sitting at 90k or so and so i had the dealer do it under warranty. finally about 20 min ago the sob died on me in the middle of the road and just before it died i saw that hpop gauge of mine go to 0. im thinking about puttin on a bypass filter at the least. ill get yall more info on what im doin later tonight. im tryin to leave my dads house and go back home before he decided to jump down my throat about how I BROKE THE HPOP.

well as it turns out it wasnt the hpop it was an internal oil leak combined with a bad number 8 injector. so since the injectors rnt a week old and i alrdy sooted one to death im putting a soot sucker on their to help save the injectors and the hpop.

Cool, which one you going with?

Wait... your injectors are less than a week old and you killed one? How is that possible? OEM injectors have a 12mo/12k mile warranty too FYI.

Have you had any oil analysis done on that at all?

Again, still haven't read or heard anything good about RP.

the injector is covered under warranty. they are 175cc reman injectors. i havent done and oil analysis yet but im taking a test from the oil as it is now and then in a month or so im going to take one to compare the 2 so that i can see how well the soot sucker is working.

on the rp thing idk if its good or bad ive heard both from ppl. i know a guy that says hell never put anything in a purple bottle in his truck ever again and i know a guy that says if it isnt purple it doesnt go in his truck so idk who to believe

Mdub707 09-14-2010 04:58 PM

I've read a few oil analysis reports of RP's gear oil Vs' some others and it scared me enough to not use it. Granted it's not motor oil, but still...

well what do you recommend running in a 15w40 (i live in tx so i never need to switch to anything else). right now the price doesnt matter to me. im sick of bad hpops and im rdy to pay some good money to keep them from going bad. also with that bypass filter on there i would be able to get alot more between changes without the fear of gettin the oil super dirty.

on that note im also wondering how far between changes yall think i could go haveing the soot sucker on the truck. i normaly go 4 to 5k between changes now but from what ive heard 10k then a top off then 10k and a top off then 10k and a full change isnt that bad when a bypass filter is on the truck.

I really liked the Amsoil 15w-40 I ran, but it got expensive. I run standard Rotella 15w-40 now, but I've also heard really good things about Rotellas new synthetic.

I would definitely do oil analysis with the bypass on there to see just how long you can go.

I have a ford truck as well and have had my own problems HPOP injectors ect due to running oil too long in a 7.3...

but these 6.0 's seem like a complete POS not to bash your truck but haven't you thought about selling it and doing something diffrent?
