NO START 6.0

I talked to my uncle yesterday with a problem. he has a 05(i think) 6.0 with he cant get to crank, he got it to crank 1 time and took it to autozone and they put a code reader on it and he says it threw 4 or 5 codes one being the crankshaft sensor. so he replaced it but did not fix the problem. he has changed ff and ws, and oil. he uses fuel additive to prevent geling. while he was changing out the ws he cut his key on and he says fuel went everywhere, so we know he is getting fuel that far at least. i asked him about plugging the engine heater in and he said he doesnt have a plug in, which i thought was odd. but in Louisiana that should be a problem anyway. thats all i know about the truck right now. i have a superchip programmer ii am going to send to him and let him check the codes and he can send it back to me. and i give you more info. any help or ideas would be appreciated
:humm:
thanks

Gonna need more info. Could be a large number of things. The codes would help tremendously. Usually common symptoms of a truck that wont start randomly or just shuts off are the FICM (just search for the symptoms, testing and fixing of this) and the IPC (injector pressure control sensor). Was the truck running and just quite or did it just not start? Any mods? What are the miles? How is the truck normally used? Any smoke when it was running? If so what color?:pca1:

Time to invest in Auto Engineuity! It will pay for itself in a few uses.

doin my own 6.0 09-22-2010 09:12 AM

AMEN!!! I'm waiting for mine to come in the mail..... I'm like a freakin' kid everyday when I come home I'm looking and hoping it's there.... and when it's not, I'm bummed. it should be any day now... they said 7/10 days for shipping. I've done alot of reading and internet searching to figure out which tool to get and the autoenginuity seems like the best choice.... ( for me).

at my old job i ran a 06 f550 service truck and it didnt like starting below 50, had alot of issues ficm, ate two of em, a weak, but not leaking high pressure oil line pullin air and had to start running synthetic 5w40 diesel motor oil. big pain in the ass truck. there is also an o ring off the oil pump i think that goes bad and will not let it start, all this came from a service manager at ford. truck only had 50k on the odo

It's often thought that weak batteries will kill the FICM's.

Can you have a bad FICM and not have a trouble code?

Mdub707 10-28-2010 01:06 PM

Anything is possible. It's amazing what will go wrong and no codes pop up. That being said, I have seen a code of some sort every time a FICM has failed on the few trucks that I've personally seen this on. They either had an actual FICM code, or individual codes for injectors. Most times the check engine light did not come on, but there were codes.
