Turbo removal?
Just woindering how hard it is to remove the turbo on an 03 6.0L in an F-350 crew cab?? What all has to be removed? or do i have to lift the bloody cab??:argh:

Remove the intake assembly, disconnect all the stuff connected to the turbo, remove turbo. 2 hours max.

Yeah not bad at all. Just make sure you have a good combination of ratchet extensions and a swivel joint. Not too terrible. A nice comfy blanket to put on top of the motor so you can lay on it never hurts either!:c:

ok thanks alot guys! :tu: I'll get that done tonight then, sweet. :c:

How the hell do you remove the oil return line on an 03? :tttt:
|
You have to remove the turbo to get it out, it just pushes in, you can lift it up and pull the tube out and just put the updated one in if that is what you are trying to do.

Doing a bunch of stuff. Last mechanic to have the turbo off rounded off all the heads on the bolts to the turbo mounts on the pedestal. So kinda fighting that right now.

There is a good video on YouTube for the rounded bolts

Yeah the 03 early 04's are a little harder to remove than the later models. Oil supply line can be removed from top of turbo & pushed aside, unless you need to replace it, the black collar slides down & unlocks the lock ring to pull out. As for the bolts get a pretty new 6 point socket 3/8 drive & breaker bar, works most of time. If someone rounded off the heads you'll need a set of turbo sockets. In worst case scenarios I've had to use a Right angle die grinder to cut thru at least the rear bolt spacer then pry the turbo out once other 2 bolts are out!!!! Good luck
