I smell coolant when I have 25 pounds of boost

I have heard all the problems with 6.0 headgaskets and egr . But was wondering if this is a warning that I can fix before something goes south . I have a airraid intake and edge Platinum programmer i run on stage 2 or 3 . I notice when i Put my foot into it getting on the freeway or passing i smell coolant . I noticed little stains on the pressurized reservoir and replaced the cap . still getting a few dots . I try to keep boost down below 28 pounds . I have a cross country trip towing my trailer and wanted to see if its my egr cooler or headgaskets pressurizing my coolant system at higher boost . I have clean oil and no white smoke. And no coolant loss . I also pulled my programmer until i can figure out whats going on . Thanks for your input .

Ps Mileage 89000

Does this only happen when the Edge programmer is on? have you checked your air to air cooler (inter-cooler) for coolant. you could be right about the EGR so upgrading to a more efficient flowing EGR. It might just be something simple as a pinhole leak in the system. Try to find where the dots are coming from.

Its on the Radiator cap and around it . Pretty sure its coming out of the reservoir

If you have too much fluid in your radiator it will happen:humm:

Even with everything perfect they can still push a little coolant once in a while when it flash boils in the EGR cooler, pressure will build and push it out. If you have a LOT coming out, then you probably have issues. Also the coolant level according to Ford should be at the "low" mark on the reservoir when cold, not the "high or full" mark anymore.

Some 6.0's will just "self level"

Yeap... check your tank level and dont have too much.... Mine did the same thing about a month ago. Normal low boost driving no water dumping out past Cap on De-Gas tank... around 20lbs or more pressure it would dump... mine turned out to be the head gaskets though..... 25 days after i replaced the EGR cooler with a Neal indutries replacement unit. so hopefully you dont have to go through that headache or head gaskets. I was lucky enough to get mine done for about $1600 labor and i supplied all the parts for my head gasket repair....

Have you checked to see what your oil temps are in relation to your coolant temps?

Who did your headgaskets?

I took the truck to Diesel Tech 1 Today , Found out my oil coolers bad , oil temp was 40 degrees higher than coolant temp . Going in monday for Heavy duty Egr cooler and new oil cooler . Seems like a great bunch of guys there . Will let you know how the work turned out.

You going with the bulletproof EGR cooler?

Glad you got it figured out.
