OIL LEAK??

I think my rear main seal is out on my 06?? does warranty cover this??
I dont see oil in the valley or turbo drain tube no loss of power and its all over the underneath of my truck... What could this be most likely rearmain is this comon??:scare2:

The best thing that I can suggest is to clean the entire bottom of the motor, then watch for the leak. Sounds primative, but it works. I've spewed fluid out of the trans cooler connections before that went everywhere. Because the warranty covers "turbo to oil pan" I'd say it's covered.

ya i defenetly know its oil just seein if the rear main is bad do they pull the tranny to replace or do they have to pull engine??

Show me a 6.0 that isn't soaked in oil there....

It's known as the "wet bellhousing" and I've never seen a 6.0 in person that wasn't wet with oil there. It should be covered under warranty but from what I understand about the oil leak is that the tech will put a clean piece of paper or something under the truck and it has to drip x amount of times in a specified interval, if it doesn't, it's not considered a leak, and most are not.

I agree about all 6.0s leak i personaly have owned 5 of them they all leak but theres a puddle of oil under my truck everywhere i stop and my tranny is SOAKED in oil im pretty sure its the bed plate seal does anyone know what causes this ??

Mdub707 06-28-2010 09:07 PM

I've heard of that, but don't know what causes it. If you are definitely getting a puddle then I would get it fixed. I would clean it up really really well, and then see if you can definitely pinpoint where it's coming from. It can come out of so many places back there it's hard to really determine where. Are you still under warranty? You should be if you have the 06 in your info, and not over the 100k... I'd bring it in.:pca1:

Im At a 100100 miles right now but I have the extended 200000 mile warranty so i should be covered

FRIDAY88 06-30-2010 11:57 PM

its building to much crank case pressure and shooting oil out of the block were the dipstick tube goes in traced it down today so im gonna have to do something different with this ccv bypass i just put on it cuz it didnt start leakin till i put that on :argh:

Mdub707 07-01-2010 07:10 PM

Where did you hear that? I had an oil drip for over a month. I took it to a local Ford Tech guy and he couldn't find the source so i let him take it home. Took him two more days and some calling tech support. Ford eventually had the whole oil cooler replaced. They tried to just replace it with the oil cooler kit but that did not completely stop the drip. So a whole cooler kit was replaced.
