white smoke

When i start my truck in the morning a bit of smoke comes out, but nothing crazy....my problem occurs when i turn the truck off for a brief period (like when i stop for fuel) then when i go to start it up, it starts blowing a pretty heavy amount of white smoke......but, it then goes away once i put it in drive and pull away.....i normally wouldnt even bring it up, but because of past 'white smoke' i$$ues...it has me very nervous....

i just dont get it, if antifreeze was getting into someplace it shouldnt be wouldnt the smoke be constant instead of going away once i'm driving??? two previous times were a blown head gasket and the other was a rupture in my high pressure oil lines, both of which smoked like a bitch and did not go away like my current issue

i have been checking my antifreeze resevoir and it has lowered but i dont see any obvious residue staining or drip marks in my driveway or on my engine....guess it would be internal somwheres.......would appreciate any ideas or feedback

Sounds like headgakset to me. It can leak internally from the cylinders to the water jackets. If it did this I would think you would be pushing coolant out the reservoir cap though.:humm:

and wouldnt the white smoke if it was coolant wouldnt it smell like antifreeze and his oil would be getting milky by now and he could pull a valve cover and see if there is any water oil condensate on his valve covers :humm:

The oil and antifreeze usually dont cross contaminate on these.
