increasing MPG
 

Hi

I have installed a S&B air kit on my 2005 F350 and all the rest of the filters in the truck

What can i install next fto performance and MPG


Is the air intake 90 the next mod:tu:


I have seen Banks high intake ram and the S&B intake ram....

Would i notice a differenence changing the above out???

programmer can be a huge help if you avoid playing with it to much and trying to race ppl.

an exhaust is a good way to gain a couple mpg and drop your egts.

if you can do an egr delete...it will make ur engine alot more reliable and i hear rumors of 5 to 7 mpg gains but those are way extreme and i would assume you could gain 2 to 4 from it

those are the easy things...but to do them and do them right can get expensive

Delete the EGR, get a SCT Tuner and a 4" or 5" exhaust.

There is no benefit to that. The stock filter filters extremely well and isn't restrictive.

ForcedInduction is right...the only time and intake does any real good other than helpin you sleep at night is when you get into major mods...ya if ur swapin turbos and gettin into some major work then its worth while...other than that it may help get rid of a little turbo lag but its not even a noticeable change

With the S&B air kit , i know that filtration is better than the stock set-up
with oil impregneted in the filter it should trap more debris than stock...

When i bought the truck i took the air filter off and it was full of debris and could not see thru it..

Also have a austin cooper S with the K&N kit pan filter and it breaths better than stock..
The K&N filter is similair to the S&B kit...

I am just concerned about all the filters and oil changes

I have changed all the fluids and filters frequently on my 1997 3500 savana service van with the 305 motor and i am at 380,000 km...

Still getting 20 mpg...

The oil filters are actually NOT preferred on the turbo motors, since it's too easy to over oil them. Most prefer the dry units. I use the AFE proguard 7 dry setup in mine. The stock one is good to 500+rwhp and filters better. It can hold upwards of 5lbs of dirt in that stock setup! Think about that...

K&N... You'd be hard pressed to find one person who will use or promote the use of one of those on these trucks. Big NO NO in my opinion.
