Another smoke question

Lately my truck has been smoking a fair bit when I first fire it up in the morning.Once it starts warming up it smokes less and less, but even once it's warm the truck still smokes alittle.I cant see any when I drive, but when I stop and get out theres a little bit. It's blue smoke.Any help would be great.

my guess would be a small oil leak. The oil is prolly getting moved faster when you drive and doesnt leak any.

But that is just my guess. I would not know for sure

mine smokes a little blue when i first start it, warm or cold most of the time. but usually goes away shortly afterward. i never worried much about it.

what about injectors, or do they normally smoke white when the get ratty. I also get a tick sometimes at full throttle, sounds like valve train noise but a little bit slower, not sure if its relevant to my problem or not

from what I know about this, this is just from reading this forum. blue smoke is oil, white is raw unburnt fuel, black is partially burnt fuel, and gray is a combo of the unburnt and partially burnt fuel.

That is what I read somewhere on here when someone had a smoke color question. So I wouldnt think it is the injectors except you do have HPOPs on the 6.0s right. that might have something to do with it but I really am no expert. I just read like this site a lot.

:humm:......you could look the other way when you get out of your truck, that might help.........

now the truck is devoloping a miss and started running rough whether its cold or warm and smoking more. Hopefully I can get it figured out before it gets to expensive, it's my only truck. Also it's not throwing any codes.

sounds like injectors but its hard to say over the comp. How many miles are on your oil?

BroncoGod 01-25-2010 07:18 PM

I have about 300 miles since my last change

How many miles on the truck? Blue smoke is oil. Could be something as simple as a turbo seal.

My 06 has this issue right now. It's fine, until fully warmed up. When I'm cruising its normal, when I come up to a stop sign (let off throttle and slow down) then take off again, I get a puff of blue smoke out the exhaust.
