6.0 hard start while hot
Hello I have a 04 f250 with a 6.0 that is hard to start at normal temp. It will start cold in 2.5 seconds cold, but up to 15 seconds warm. I am new to the diesel game . The vehicle is completly stock . Any ideas ??? tia

High pressure oil system leak, most likely.
04's are kind of different to diagnose, they don't have the typical STC fitting issues the 05 and up trucks do They do however have the dummy plugs in the oil rails that cause so many problems. Pull the valve covers and check those. But you definitely need a scan tool to watch your ICP during hot cranking to help verify the ICP is low. |

I have a 2005 F350 6.0l and it won't start when it's warm. The problem just started at 60,000 miles and prior to this it has been a great dependable work truck. Now, It cranks over and seems like its lacking fuel. I took it to the ford dealer and they have no idea what is wrong. When the truck is cold sometimes it starts right up, and sometimes it cranks a little longer,but still starts. I have no idea what to do with this truck. any help out there????

Hey guys. I'm new to this site, however I had the same problems with my 6.0. I had something recomended to me that worked, it was rev-x oil additive. I'm a mechanic myself and a good friend of mine who is a diesel mechanic and maintains a large fleet of 6.0 shuttle busses told me I could try it or start replacing injectors. Obviously, I took the less expensive approach first. It worked! I don't know how, I don't know why. But i'm going on almost a year since and my truck starts better than it did when it was new (I swear) and idles smooth. I have been talking about it for a while to some guys at powerstrokenation.com who have actually done a huge test on the 6.0 side of their site. It is worth checking out guys. Anyone who spends as much money to have one of our trucks deserves to have a great running truck and ford doesn't seem to know how to make it a reality - these guys who make this product DID.

Read ICP, its probably low or slow to build. Indicates a leak in the High Pressure Oil system as posted.

right rear transfer tube help
Hey guys im new to this site and looking for some help. I'm replacing the dummy plugs and transfer tube on my 06 6.0 How do you get the right rear tube out? The evap box is preventing me from pulling it. Do i remove the box or is there another way that is easier.

Probably have to pull the box. I think it's only 5 bolts holding it in, but you have to get at them from inside the truck if I remember correctly. Are you doing the STC fitting as well on your 06?

no not yet. I'm going to just short on time. I found a bad oring on the drivers dummy plug. But like a dummy i pulled the right rear tube loose but couldn't pull it all the way out. The upper orings looked good. But now i have a hard start cold and a no start hot. So im thinking the orings are now leaking on the one pipe i didn't replace. I knew better just didn't have the part. Im gonna try and loosen the box or outer cover to remove it.
