Fuel Light
Hey guys;
I was just wondering what an average rule of thumb is everyone uses for how much fuel they have left when the fuel light comes on. I know obviously driving habits and hwy vs. city driving will affect how much is left but when I ran my '00 Exploder when the fuel light came on I usually had about 15 litres of fuel left roughly if I remember correctly. I've looked in the owners manual and the 6.0 supplement to see if I could fine a guideline from Ford but couldn't find one. I believe I have a 115L tank, its a '04 Supercab short box. Thanks in advance. Cheers :c: |
You should have a 29 gallon. Luckly I have never had to prime my powerstroke after I ran out of gas once:argh: Or when I dropped my tank. So there is a for sure way to find out how long past the light you can go.:w2: But it is best not to get that low due to possible trash in your tank.

i never let mine get below a 1/4 tank due to trash

It's very hard on the injectors to run it out of fuel. If you even get close, fill it up. My buddy has an 05 lariat which says how many miles to empty, and that's not even accurate. It's run out saying 55 miles left to empty and once ran out at 90 miles to empty or something like that. Don't trust them, its not worth losing injectors and/or shortening their life.
