Can you weld the pipe shut with it on the truck?

HeavyAssault 10-31-2009 07:02 PM

That pipe is directly behind the turbo, I doubt you can reach it for welding.

So how do you take it out?

Look on ebay for the egr block off kit, It only costs around 149, has all the gaskets orings, complete, I have installed 2 of these and they seal the cooler on both sides so it looks like the cooler is still in use but does nothing but flow coolant now, no chance of coolant getting into the intake or exhaust, my boy and I can do one of these in 8 hours, 2 of those hours are just cleaning out the sludge of the intake. No special tools needed to do this, just be careful taking the connecters off and you will be good, it is basically a ford gasket kit with a freeze plug for the hot side and a solid gasket and solid metal gasket for the intake side

so is it a quality kit??? not somethin u would have to worry about later?

Remove the right side tire/wheel, remove the right side wheel well liner, (optional) remove the down pipe. With several extensions you remove the EGR up-pipe mount bolts (two upper and two lower) then remove the EGR cooler clamp which is basically at the back of the motor.

Look inside pipe and remove scoop if present, place 1.5" steel disc inside "T" that connects to EGR cooler (the thicker the better, quality steel shoulc be used). DO NOT weld over the lip on the inside of the "T" this is where the EGR cooler seats to seal between the two pipes. Reinstall is reverse of removal. Once you have the pipe back in start the motor to check for leaks, CEL or codes. If no leaks are presemt then reinstall all parts. IF CEL or codes are present you may need to use an SCT to limit EGR valve function. Test drive.

Ford 6.0L 2005 ERG Problems

Hello everyone, hoping someone can help me some more, read alot about ERG deletes and have a few questions. 2005 F-250 superduty 6.0L
My ERG Cooler is pooched, blowing white snoke all the time. From what i have read, the Engine oil cooler might be bad as well, changing the ERG cooler may still give me problems.
With the ERG Delete, do i keep my pooched ERG cooler in place and just install the Delete kit? Also do i need to remove Engine oil cooler?
Once this ERG delete kit is in plce my problems should be solved?

Will just disconnecting my ERG valve stop the white smoke?

Don't have the cash right now to go to Ford dealer, need to do it myself, looking for the best/cheapest way

Also i have antifreeze seeping out of my muffler, how do i get that all out once erg delete complete, and ensure it does not hydrolock.

THanks

Yes this is a quality kit// You can keep use your busted cooler, it seals off the cooler on both ends so you don't have to worry about it.. Also with the other method shown in the other post you can just use a 35mm freeze plug driven into the end of the cooler to block just the exhaust but you still have to seal the intake side.. it does the same thing the other units that cost $400 does, it basically just makes the cooler a tube for just coolant..I have done 2 of these and I am about to do another one for a buddy if mine. comes with every gasket, oring, and even new turbo bolts.. while you are in there get the updated turbo oil feed line and drain tube, I don't think they cost that much

As is most usuall................. There are a dozen ways but you get what you pay for.

"BEST" is defined by the owner LOL.

IMO the "BEST" is a full maniflod delete from First Coast Diesel. It includes a ceramic coated manifold with the coolent system rerouted (This is very important).

There are lots of ways to do it from home made to custom kits. I like the fulkl manifold delete as it makes the EGR Valve, RGR cooler all junk parts.

You can block the exhaust gas but still risk a cooler leak. NEVER block the coolant flow.

Hey churkeep, got your pm but I don't have enough posts to send them yet, I am in Maryland near DC. I dont have a business, just a nice new garage to work in, those kits are around $149 on ebay, no special tools to do this, about that other question, I would say 150 clams, if you want to pm me again with contact info or if you just have more questions, Bob F
