Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor

My 2004 F350 6.0 Powerstroke has intermittent power loss. From idling position at red light to pressing accelerator pedal nothing happens. I've noticed that just before this occurs the RPM's go down from 650 to below 500. Since it is not throwing a code the shops cannot find the problem. This happened again this morning and I pulled over, reached under the dash and made sure sensor clip was sitting right. Then I adjusted the pedals forward slightly. RPM's went up and truck drove fine. Should I expect the MIL to light up or a code to be thrown on this problem? The shop manual says a code is thrown only if it impacts the emissions system.

Problem with acceleration only started after FICM was replaced. Performance shop who looked at truck could not find issue. They pulled EGR and said it is common to get clogged and suggested blocking it. Then a code was thrown and they replaced a bad injector. Since then I have had accelerator problem re-occur twice.

Any feedback is appreciated.

Nobody suggested scoping the TPS? For shame on you guys.

Hey I have a customer with same problem and did scope the TPS with accurate readings. The only thing that helps the situation is that he can adjust his adjustable pedals with the control and the throttle will respond. We also have no codes and the FICM had been replaced aprox 1 year before. Hope you found the problem or can give some input. Thanks Stacy.
