Default Scanner info

I have read the posts about the AutoEnginuity Program scanner on a lap top. Is there a stand alone gas/diesel tool that compares with the AE without having to buy a windows lap top? I don't use windows computers anymore and do not want to buy a laptop just for this if possible, to get same readings and $$$.

I want it to work with Ford, Chevy and Dodge gas and diesels. This is for home use and not repair shop.

Thanks,
Walt

There really isn't a scanner out there that isn't lap top based that does what you need it to to properly diagnose a 6.0. I've been looking also, and AutoEnginuity seems to be the top of the heap.

I have heard NGS PC is USABLE, but at a thousand bucks, leaves much to be desired.

IDS is still the best tool for the 6.0, but it is a LOT of money just for the home user.

Thanks.
I guess I'll have to get a lap top and AE. I'll have to call AE and see if the program will run on a Mac with the window run program. Then I would not have to get a windows only lap top. I do want to be able to read all the sensors, info and data log, that I understand AE will do.

Again thanks,
Walt

I have read in several 'google reports' that AE will run on a MAC. I am MAC ignorant but from the posts you have to install and run a 3rd party program to make it work.

I have found the support at AE 'Bill' to be pretty good. I am sure they can take care of your needs. 'They also have a PDA version.

Thanks,
An update, I bought AE and a mini netbook to use just for AE. Less $$$ than a MAC for this purpose. I still prefer Mac. Bill did say AE should be OK on a Mac using Mac's bootcamp utility that is in the new OS. I did not want to spend almost $1000 more for a Mac at this time.

The netbook is light and small to take in truck easily.

Now that I scanned, I have P1378 and B1352 codes showing. I will continue this in my other post about it missing at times.

Again Thanks for all the help.
Walt
