Loss of power during acceleration from stop
 

Just wondering if anyone might have any ideas of what could be causing this? I have an '04 F250 with the Powerstroke stock, no mods. When accelerating from a stop light I have a "stumble" i guess you could call it, a loss of power lasting for a few seconds, then the engine seems to pick up. A bit of a puff of black smoke once it picks up and thats it. It idle's fine, starts fine, runs fine at cruising speeds. I don't use it for towing at the moment. The check engine light is not on. Had the fuel filters changed last week and it had an oil change maybe 2 weeks back. Seems to only occur more once the engine heats up as well? Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks!

How does the turbo lag normally get fixed?

Could be turbo lag, just part of driving a diesel. Hard to say with out driving it. Try slowly rolling into the throttle, and not just mashing it to the floor. Let us know if that helps.

I have tried rolling into it as opposed to just stepping on it. No difference. It's intermittent, sometimes it happens rolling into it, sometimes it doesn't, sometimes it happens stepping on it and sometimes it doesn't. I bought this truck in March and didn't have this problem, its just been within the past week or so that its started. Before this it ran fine.

Try having the injectors checked, or maybe the FICM. I own one and have heard that 1400000 times. I guess i can finally do the same lol

I'd bet EGR or VGT not working right with your little puff of smoke.

Hard to diagnose over the computer though.

You are right, it was the ERG valve. Dealership said it was clogged so they installed a new one and a kit with it? Not sure what that is, a gasket kit maybe?

I was wondering if I listed the part numbers if you would be able to explain to me a bit better what these parts are. It would be appreciated;

She runs better than it did before it went in the shop so I'm happy. I read a lot on the forums here about guys cleaning their EGR out, I'm assuming thats different then the actual valve?

dont think, turbo i garuntee it

When people talk about cleaning the EGR, theyre talking about the valve. Its pretty easy to do and only takes a few minutes.
