What is wrong with this 6.0?

OK last week I blew the inter-cooler. Now today the EGT's were running high like 500 at idle and with a lite 8000 pound trailer (EMPTY) egts were 1200 just going 45 miles per hour on flat level land. Boost is normal around 25 up to 30. But when I let off the throttle the turbo will bark. Engine I would say was hotter then normal didn't see any coolant leaking but under the hood you could smell it slightly. No codes of course what should I check for?? Coolant level is normal, air filter is OK I wonder if the cat is getting plugged and that isn't my problem. Any ideas?? Truck is a 05 F-350 with 42,000 miles

One more thing the EGT's were running high the day the inter-cooler blew I thought something was wrong with the pyro. After the new inter-cooler the egts were normal. but with less then 200 miles egt's are high again. I know if I run the truck much something is going to go :argh:

Loose inter cooler boot? Check the clamps.

new turbo. lol

Turbo farting is a result of building boost and letting off the accelerator rapidly. My truck does it and the VGT is not "jamming up".

You can remove the turbo and clean it yourself. The turbine side is where the cleaning occurs and is a basic procedure done by Ford.

I realize that letting off the accelerator rapidly will cause the turbo to fart. The turbo on the truck does it in all circumstances now.

Perhaps i should have said:

Trucks that exhibit turbo farting more frequently likely are in the beginning stages of having the VGT stick.

You can pull the turbo apart and clean it. You may need to replace the unison ring, if the engagement slot is worn from the VGT actuator moving back and forth without the ring moving.
