Which Programmer ???
 

Hey everyone , I've got A '06 6.0 liter powerstroke . I want to add programmer for better mileage and a little more power when pulling trailers . Right now I'm considering Diablo powersport or edge evolution . Any opinions or other suggestions would be appreciated . Thanks in advance .

Which progrmmer from sct ? Then would I need a seperate EGT gauge ?:humm:

i would get a set of guages, just mho. or you can get the in dash monitor with egt probe. but you still wanna see trans temps and boost pressures

the sct is your best bet you can get them with 5 preset on the fly programs and it can hold up to three custom tunes and it has all your gauges built into it

also though if you are not wanting to go big with the tunes edge and quadzilla have on the fly programers with all your gauges built into to them but i still suggest the sct in case you decide to go big in the future you can add tunes to them

The gauges are a must. Turbo, Exhaust temp, Trans

Give Eric a call at Innovative Diesel and he will set you up with excellent custom tunes. I went with the Extreme Tunes on a SCT X3 :U:

if you dont want to hook up gauges you can go with the SCT livewire. there is still some install reqd. but it is not as extensive. you dont want to get the X3 unless all u are gonna run is "CUSTOM" tunes because it no longer comes with "CANNED" tunes. so be careful before you order... but if you want the truck to run at its best get tunes from eric @innovative ot cale@bdp. good luck man

black 06, you are exactly right. My brother got an x2 from sct and had innovative deisel send him an email with the new tunes, I shit when he dropped the hammer, It went everyway but straight. I got out of his truck, walked in and ordered one right then. It is unbeilivable. I am sitting by the door waiting for the ups guy.:rocking:

But as far as guages, Innovative uses really safe parimeters. The install defueler and and egr valve bypass

dont know much about the 6.0's but imo i have rode in a bunch stock, and they never impresed me. but with a big tune they are nasty!

im not sure i have rode in anything "stock" that was udderly impressing lol

You are in for quite a list of mods since power adders are quite addictive. This is the short list.

BASIC mods
1. SCT w/ID tunes
2. Gauges (EGT at a minimum, Boost PSI, Tranny temp are great if you ever tow)
3. Turbo back exhaust (T409 stainless steel in whatever brand you choose (MBRP here))

me ether. But some are definately better than others.

look at the edge juice w/ attitude they seem to run like a bat out of hell

as long as it has the cat and muffler on they won't say anything. I there are noise ordinances where you live that they enforce you might want to be careful. i have a 5" turbo back with no cat on mine and nothings been said about it at inspection time.

sct is the way to go they will also tune your trans also i love mine i can either save fuel or turn it up and roast the tires plus i pull a 35' camper and i can hardly tell its back there but get some gauges unless you get the live wire :U:

Edge= blown head gaskets and burnt trannys on a 6.0... SCT is the only tuner out there that can ajust the peramiters of the trans...

SCT, gauges and exhaust, and your looking at a 400hp rocket... Then save up for some head studs.

I'm running 6inch stacks on mine and I've had no problems getting through inspection my cat is punched and I'm not running a muffler.

Can anyone tell me if the sct livewire comes with the mounting bracket and an egt probe ?:humm:

PM one of the vendors above, they will set you up. I dont believe it comes with the pyro probe, but I think it comes with the bracket. I have only installed one and it was about 18 months ago...:humm:

I ran the Edge system on my 04. I had it in 2 for the longest time, but I was on a drive from Oregon to So Cal. I decided to play with it. The truck got 12 mpg with it selected at 2. I then put it in 5. It ran so much better and the gas mileage went up to 15 (still not great)

I was told not to run the edge in number 5 because it could blow up your motor. Why have it in the first place then?

Any tuner can do that... the higher HP you run it the more likely it will happen.

i think the mounting brackets are extra and the pyro probe is standard

Get an SCT with custom tunes. I wouldnt recomend the livewire, people seem to have problems with them, just what ive heard, i like my xcal3 with custom TSD tunes.

Thanks , I recently got a live wire though . I wanted it for the gauges . I'm still waiting for the pyrometer and mount to come in . Also once I get my computer to recognize the tuner I'm planning on getting in touch with Eric @ innovative for some custom tunes . I did put the 50 HP canned tune in , it made a big difference pulling my trailers . I'm excited to see what the custom tunes will do . :U:

Eric writes some good tunes, although i dont run his anymore, i still like them. I was gonna get the live wire for gauges also, but was turned away from it. Your gonna enjoy it.

So the SCT Livewire is a good choice right? Will it fry my tranny?

Well,I'll be the lone voice for BullyDog PMT, it tunes the eng, transmission, comes with the boost probe (has provisions for 2) shows whatever you want so no gauges required. Not as costomizable as the SCT, but good bang for the buck. Comes with a mount, A piller mount is extra.
