tires and shaking
 

I have a 2004 F-250 FX4 Crew cab with a 6" lift! I am running 13X38X16 TSL Bias ply Swampers. I drive a lot of winding roads. I am looking to buy a set of tires. What do you suggest in a 35 to a 38 inch tire?

I also have a problem. The whole truck shakes between 40mph and 50mph. I think its the tires but could it be something else?

The Toyo Open Country ATs are really nice, I have a set of 35s on my 07 Cummins. For the shaking, my dads F350 did the same thing and his tires were just out of balance and that fixed his problem

Go get your tires balanced and then it should be fine. I like the Nitto Terra Grapplers, maybe some Cooper LZT's or bfg a/t's

no one around here can balance 38" tires. I put the beads in them and the shaking is still there.

:rocking:The problem is the bias ply tire, they never stay balanced. if it is really cold they are miserable until they warm up,but even then still don't handle or drive like a radial tire. i have had the joy of balancing 38" tires and what i have found is that there is a solution it is called EQUAL tire balance powder. any tire dealer should be able to get it for you. most over the road trucks use this as well.beleive it or not i have seen golf balls in tires and almost do the same thing. good luck and get some radials.:c:

I have Equal beads in the tires and it still about Shakes the truck off the road! Its that bad.

i uses the beads in a set of 40's and it was horable. I broke them down and vacuumed them out and are perfect now with out any weight on them. im running 35 toyo m/t now and they are aswome ride

Nitto Terra Grapplers and just use wheel wieghts beads are the worst. :U:

I was looking around online and I found this article about the front end of trucks with lifts and big tires like those you have. This might be worth getting checked out, its called death wobble. What I found out that its fairly common in the newer fords and trucks with oversized tires. Thought it might be something you would be interested in knowing and checking out.
