Why did my truck stop pouring out black smoke?
 

I was wondering if someone could help me out with an answer to why my truck all of a sudden stopped pouring out black smoke like it used to.

I have a video on this site here and on youtube called king of the quarry, at about 1:00 in the vid my truck stopped pouring out the black smoke and it turned grey and almost white looking for a little while. But now it doesnt smoke at all unless i'm at a standstill and punch it than there is a little bit of black but not much.

not knowing alot about the 6.0's i would say headgasket, EGR, or a combination of both:humm:

maybe your programmer took a dump

The only code I have is for the EGR which I have replaced three times already. I frequently drive in 8hr shots and every time it plugs the EGR. But that is the only code I have still to this point.

My programmer seems to be working fine no problems at all with it besides my egt monitor stopped working and I think it is there box that the probe plugs into cause I have a good ohm reading on the probe. Bullydog said its cause ford has a different exhaust gasket material so there was no ground but I grounded the probe and still no reading.

I was making a date for a head gasket and bolts today so that will get done.

my guess would be u got water into your connections on what ever programmer ur running

Possibly submerging the truck up to the hood in water may have had something to do with it??? :humm:

Just after I did that I took the intake off and changed out most of my fuilds and didnt have water i anything and I dont have any loss of power at all.. just less smoke.

And my egt monitor stopped working long before that video.

I was basically wondering if my head gasket went, would that be a reason for less smoke, or is it more possible I got a little bit of water in there?
I realize what I did in to the truck but nothing really seems wrecked and I've put on a fair bit of miles since than.
