Lost 20% Fuel Econ w/ New Turbo
2004 F350 Auto w/ 40,000 miles
Just had the turbo replaced by dealer after a failure. My fuel economy immediately dropped from 16.5mpg local (2 lane mostly) to 13.5 mpg. Dealer says 13 is "decent," and I am being unrealistic. Maybe, but where did my 3.5mpg GO? I have the following DTCs 1) P0275-60 Cyl 5 Contribution/Balance 2) P0402-60 EGR Excessive Flow 3) P132B-60 Turbocharger Boost Control A Performance The truck "feels" normal, but gas mileage sucks at $3.89/gal Any ideas? This happened RIGHT AFTER the turbo replacement- Thanks, Bob |
Im assuming the DTC's came up after the work? I would take it back to them to address the issues for sure.

The only indication after the turbo change was the mileage loss experienced on the following, and subsequent tanks of fuel. Certainly the dealer should have run a diagnostic after the turbocharge change, and should have caught at least the P132B-60 Turbocharger Boost Control A Performance as being associated with the turbo system they just worked on. |
