Looking for suggestions on good oil and oil filters for my Powerstroke and a good performance air filter & fuel filters as well. Does anybody have a suggestion on how to and what to use to clean the turbo and EGR valve

Oem for all filters.

Factory air filter is good to 500hp. I personally have an AFE and i like it. My truck is nowhere near 500hp but i love the sound.

Rotella for oil as well. I had some Chevron Delo in it but i really didnt notice any difference. Detroit Diesel swears by Delo but Rotella is plentiful at most stores.

Delete the egr and cooler. Itll be the best 130 bucks you spend.

To clean the turbo i use a cloth and brake clean. Wire brush for the tough bits.

Thanks

Great info. I will do all of that. Why would they make a truck that cant holf up unless you delete and change parts.

If you are spot on with oil changes, change the oil filter once between oil changes and make sure your coolant is clean you dont need to do all that. Lots of people get away with not doing the mods i listed. I personally feel better with extra filtration. The injectors are run off oil pressure so the more you do to keep the oil clean, the better your chances of having thousands of miles of trouble free running. The oil coolers are notorious for clogging due to loose sand from casting so a coolant filter ensures nothing clogs the oil cooler. The egr coolers are also notorious for clogging due to dirty coolant. The other option rather than deleting the egr and cooler is replacing the cooler with an expensive aftermarket one. You may have no other choice but to replace it depending on your emmisions laws.

Im in maine. Evwryone up here is deleting the egr and cooler and infact one guy suggested i change out the radiator aswell, that Seems like overkill to me though.

You COULD change the rad i guess...seems like overkill tho. A good coolant filter should eliminate the need to do that.

I run Rotella T-6 for oil. Also I use Motocraft oil filters. Some after market filters DO NOT seat properly and for the few bucks difference I don't want to take a chance.

I run dinosaur oil but if it wasnt so damn expensive id run synthetic in both my truck and car.
Ive been running Fleetguard oil filters with success but alot of the cheap filters dont work very well. Another thing to note is that if you have an aftermarket filter cap, you need to make sure you have the proper length filter. Napa filter caps require a longer filter.
